Johnson (foot) is questionable to return to Thursday's preseason finale against the Panthers, Burt Lauten of the Pittsburgh Steelers Communications reports.
Johnson suffered a foot injury in the first half against Carolina, placing some doubt on his ability to return. The wide receiver failed to record any stats before departing the game.

Steelers' Brandon Johnson: Two receptions against Jacksonville
Johnson secured both of his targets for 12 yards during Saturday's 31-25 preseason win over the Jaguars.
Johnson spent most of last season on Pittsburgh's practice squad, and he remained in the organization during the offseason after signing a reserve/future contract with the team. While the Steelers parted ways with George Pickens during the offseason, they acquired DK Metcalf, and it seems unlikely that Johnson will see consistent time on the team's 53-man roster.

Steelers' Brandon Johnson: Back with Pittsburgh
The Steelers signed Johnson to a reserve/future contract Tuesday.
Cut by the Broncos ahead of Week 1 last summer, Johnson spent the entire season in Pittsburgh, toggling between the active roster and practice squad. He appeared in three regular-season contests, catching one pass for nine yards. Known mostly for his willingness to be a blocker out wide, Johnson will look to earn a role with the Steelers this upcoming offseason.

The Steelers elevated Johnson to their active roster ahead of Monday night's matchup against the Giants, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Johnson was also elevated for the Steelers' Week 7 win over the Jets but didn't see the field. He'll add depth to Pittsburgh's wide-receiver room, as rookie Roman Wilson (hamstring) was just placed on injured reserve Monday. Expect Johnson to serve as a depth piece in the Steelers' WR corps while potentially contributing on special teams in Week 8.

Johnson was waived by the Broncos on Tuesday, but he's already found a new home on the Steelers' practice squad. The 26-year-old wide receiver spent the first two seasons of his career in Denver, catching 25 of his 44 targets for 326 yards and four touchdowns in 20 regular-season outings.

Johnson was a favorite of coach Sean Payton last season, seeing action in 13 games while making a pair of starts. He finished with 19 catches for 284 yards and four touchdowns on 30 targets spanning 343 offensive snaps. With the additions of Josh Reynolds and rookie fourth-rounder Troy Franklin, Johnson loses his spot on the 53-man roster. There's a solid chance the Broncos view him as a practice squad candidate.

Broncos' Brandon Johnson: Big day in preseason finale
Johnson caught both his targets for 83 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 38-12 preseason win over the Cardinals.
The third-year wideout showed some good chemistry with Zach Wilson, hauling in a 37-yard pass late in the third quarter to set up one TD before snagging a 46-yard touchdown pass of his own in the fourth. Johnson is fighting with 2024 fourth-round pick Troy Franklin and others for a spot at the bottom of the Broncos' wide receiver depth chart, so Sunday's performance may not have been enough to secure a place on the 53-man roster.

Johnson played in 13 games during the 2023 campaign, finishing with 19 receptions on 30 targets for 284 yards and four touchdowns.
Johnson played in a depth role in the Broncos' wide receiver corps, limiting his opportunities throughout the season. Despite this fact, the wideout's four touchdowns were good for the second-highest total among all pass catchers in Denver. Johnson is under contract through the 2024 season and will become a restricted free agent in 2025. Heading into next season, Johnson may find it difficult to find the field consistently again if fellow receivers Courtland Sutton, Jerry Jeudy and Marvin Mims remain on the roster.

Johnson secured four of six targets for 27 yards in Sunday's 16-9 win over the Chargers.
Johnson's four catches and six targets Sunday were his most in a game this season in both categories. In addition, the second-year player played 84 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps, the most of any Denver wideout in the contest. With the Broncos eliminated from playoff contention, it's possible Johnson could maintain an elevated workload heading into Week 18 matchup against the Raiders, especially if Courtland Sutton (concussion) and Marvin Mims (hamstring) remain sidelined.

Johnson caught three of five targets for 47 yards and a touchdown in Sunday's 26-23 loss to the Patriots.
Johnson saw increased playing time Sunday with Courtland Sutton (concussion) exiting the contest early in first half. The wideout played 68 percent of the Broncos' offensive snaps, the second-most of any receiver behind Jerry Jeudy. In 11 appearances this season, Johnson has now recorded 11 catches for 169 yards and four touchdowns. The 25-year-old could see similar usage in a Week 17 matchup with the Chargers if Sutton remains sidelined, but he would be difficult to trust for fantasy purposes.

Johnson is set to appear in his first game since Week 7 this Sunday, and it now seems as if he's completely moved past his hamstring issue. The 25-year-old wideout has appeared in seven games for the Broncos this season, catching eight of his 13 targets for 122 yards and three touchdowns.

Broncos' Brandon Johnson: Set to return from IR
The Broncos designated Johnson (hamstring) for return from injured reserve Wednesday, Aric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Johnson hasn't played since Week 7 due to the hamstring injury, but he at least looks as though he'll be ready to practice this week. The Broncos will have 21 days to evaluate Johnson before either adding him back to the 53-man roster or keeping him on IR for the remainder of the season. Johnson recorded eight receptions for 122 yards and three touchdowns on 13 targets through Denver's first seven games of the season.
