49ers' Jordan Elliott: Cleared to play Week 9
Elliott (ankle) is active for Sunday's game against the Giants, Briana Jeannel of the 49ers' official site reports.
Elliott's status for Sunday's game looked to be in jeopardy after he did not travel with the team Friday due to personal reasons. However, the 2020 third-rounder joined the team in New Jersey on Saturday and has been cleared to play after working through an ankle injury during Week 9 prep. Elliott has 16 tackles (four solo) through the first eight games of the regular season.

49ers' Jordan Elliott: Not traveling with team
Elliott (ankle), who is questionable for Sunday's matchup against the Giants, is not traveling with the 49ers to New York on Friday due to personal reasons, Vic Tafur of The Athletic reports.
Elliott didn't practice Friday after logging a pair of limited practices to begin the week, though it's not clear if his absence Friday was due to the personal issue. He remains questionable for Sunday's contest, so he could join the team sometime before that matchup. If Elliott is unable to play, Kevin Givens or Alfred Collins could draw a start.

49ers' Jordan Elliott: Questionable to face Giants
Elliott (ankle) is questionable for Sunday's game against the Giants, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
Elliott opened the week with back-to-back limited practices before sitting out of Friday's session to recover from an ankle injury he sustained in Week 8 against the Texans. His status for Week 9 may not be officially known until the 49ers announce their list of inactive players Sunday, but his absence would mean that either Alfred Collins or Kevin Givens would start at defensive tackle alongside Kalia Davis.

Elliott had been dealing with a back injury he presumably suffered during a practice earlier in training camp, but he's now back on the field ahead of San Francisco's last preseason game Saturday versus the Chargers. Unless he suffers a setback, he figures to start at one of the 49ers' defensive tackle spots come Week 1 at Seattle.

49ers' Jordan Elliott: Sees role increase over 2024 season
Elliott finished the 2024 regular season with 19 tackles (12 solo) through 15 games.
Elliott signed a two-year, $10 million contract with the 49ers in March of 2024 after spending the first four seasons of his NFL career with the Browns, who selected him in the third round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Elliott failed to crack 30 defensive snaps in the first five games of the regular season, but he managed to reach that mark in nine of his next 10 outings due to injuries to Kevin Givens (pectoral) and Javon Hargrave (triceps). Elliott would see plenty of snaps at defensive tackle alongside Hargrave and Maliek Collins in 2025 if Givens opts to sign with another team during the offseason.
