  • Commanders' Michael Gallup: Healthy for camp

Gallup (hamstring) is participating in training camp, John Keim of ESPN.com reports.

Gallup is healthy after missing June minicamp with a hamstring strain. He retired last summer on the eve of training camp with Las Vegas, but he's giving it another go one year later at age 29. Gallup will perhaps hope to compete with Noah Brown and others for the No. 3 WR role, although simply making the Week 1 roster would be a good outcome for him.

  • Commanders' Michael Gallup: Managing hamstring strain

Gallup is not participating in Commanders mandatory minicamp Wednesday due to a hamstring strain, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports.

Gallup also sat out Tuesday's minicamp session due to his injury. After a one-season retirement hiatus, Gallup is competing to carve out a depth role in Washington's wide receiver corps and make a comeback in the NFL. His path to a spot on the 53-man roster will become increasingly difficult the more time he misses, but Gallup at least has over a month to get healthy ahead of training camp.

  • Commanders' Michael Gallup: Adds depth to Washington WR corps

The Commanders signed Gallup on Thursday.

Gallup last saw regular-season action with Dallas during the 2023 season, when he logged a 34-418-2 receiving line in 17 regular-season games. After announcing his intention to retire last July, the 29-year-old sat out out the entire 2024 NFL campaign, but Gallup now is poised to resume his career with Washington, joining a wideout group headed by Terry McLaurin and Deebo Samuel, with Noah Brown, Luke McCaffrey and K.J. Osborn also in the mix. While Gallup doesn't have a clear path to steady volume at first glance, he does give the Commanders experienced pass-catching depth, as he reunites with coach Dan Quinn, who worked with the 2018 third-rounder while the two were together for three years in Dallas, per Ben Standig of The Athletic.

  • Michael Gallup: Visit with Seattle on deck

Gallup is scheduled to visit with the Seahawks as a free agent, Jordan Schultz of Fox Sports reports.

Gallup, who unretired in early March, has already logged a visit with the Commanders. The 29-year-old wideout could be a fit for Seattle's revamped wide receiver corps, which has seen both DK Metcalf (traded to Pittsburgh) and Tyler Lockett (released) depart this offseason but added Cooper Kupp as a starter alongside Jaxon Smith-Njigba. Gallup's last NFL action came in 2023, when he suited up for all 17 regular-season games with the Cowboys and tallied a 34-418-2 line on 57 targets.

  • Michael Gallup: Planning comeback

The Raiders released Gallup from the reserve/retired list Friday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.

Per Rapoport, the move paves the way for Gallup, who surprisingly retired last offseason, to make a comeback. The wideout, who turned 29 earlier this week, last saw regular-season action with the Cowboys in 2023, when he recorded a 34/418/2 receiving line in 17 games.

  • Michael Gallup: Retirement made official

The Raiders placed Gallup on the reserve/retired list Wednesday, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

Gallup surprisingly retired as training camp kicked off for Las Vegas, after having signed a one-year, $3 million contract with the team during the offseason. The 28-year-old wideout played all six seasons of his NFL career in a Cowboys uniform, and injuries seemed to derail him after a promising 66-1,107-6 receiving line in Year 2. Former teammate Dak Prescott praised Gallup following his retirement, per Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' official site, saying "he was huge for my career."

  • Raiders' Michael Gallup: Set to retire

Gallup is slated to retire, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.

This is a surprising move, as Gallup agreed to a one-year, $3 million deal with the Raiders during the offseason and was projected fourth on the wide receiver depth chart. After a promising start to his career in Dallas, he failed to replicate those numbers in recent years and was looking for a fresh start in Las Vegas. His career now looks to be coming to an end prior to his seventh season.
