Bills' Tyler Bass: Practice window not opening yet
Bills coach Sean McDermott said Thursday that Bass (left hip/groin) is among players on IR who will not have their practice windows opened yet, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.
McDermott said, "We'll see -- going off the info from the medical team," when asked whether Bass will play this season, per Maddy Glab of the team's official site, though he did acknowledge that the kicker is trending in the right direction. Bass' 21-day practice window was eligible to open as early as Week 5, but at this stage a timetable for him to retake the field remains uncertain. Fill-in kicker Matt Prater has been reliable through five regular-season appearances, having converted 10 of 11 field-goal tries and all 15 of his extra-point attempts, so Buffalo has little reason to rush Bass back to action.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Uncertain for Week 6
Bills coach Sean McDermott said Wednesday that the team has not yet decided whether Bass (left hip/groin), who remains on IR, could return for Sunday's game against the Falcons, Alec White of the team's official site reports.
Bass was eligible to have his 21-day practice window opened as early as last week, but Buffalo has yet to instigate such a transaction. While the Bills haven't yet ruled Bass out for Week 6, his availability will look increasingly unlikely the longer he remains off the practice field. Bass hasn't yet suited up for regular-season action this year, and until he's fully healthy Matt Prater figures to continue operating as Buffalo's starting kicker.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Recovering well
Head coach Sean McDermott told reporters Wednesday that Bass (left hip/groin) is moving in the right direction, but the Bills remain unsure about when he will return from injured reserve, Maddy Glab of the team's official site reports.
Buffalo will be without its top place kicker for at least one more week, as Bass was forced to miss the team's first four games due to his placement on IR in early September. It's unclear whether the Georgia Southern product will be available following the Bills' Week 4 contest against the Saints, but Matt Prater is expected to assume the team's kicking duties until Bass returns to full health.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Moves to injured reserve
The Bills placed Bass (left hip/groin) on injured reserve Friday.
Bass dealt with what at the time was termed a pelvic injury in the early days of training camp but still was able to suit up in Buffalo's preseason finale, connecting on three of four field-goal attempts and both point-after tries. He then mustered just one limited practice during Week 1 prep due to left hip and groin concerns before the team made the decision to shut him down for at least the first four games of the season. The Bills will need to elevate Matt Prater from the practice squad to the active roster ahead of Sunday night's showdown with the Ravens.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Won't practice Friday
Bass (left hip/groin) won't practice Friday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
Per coach Sean McDermott, the Bills have yet to rule anyone out (including Bass) for Sunday's season opener against the Ravens, but at this stage it looks like veteran kicker Matt Prater, who is on Buffalo's practice squad, may be filling in for the team this weekend.

Bills' Tyler Bass: DNP Thursday as team adds kicker
Bass (hip/groin) didn't practice Thursday.
Bass is trending in the wrong direction, as he was unable to take the practice field Thursday due to left hip and groin injuries after logging a limited session Wednesday. The Bills signed veteran kicker Matt Prater to their practice squad Thursday, giving them an alternative within the organization if Bass is unavailable against the Ravens on Sunday Night Football in Week 1.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Limited on Wednesday
Bass (hip/groin) was limited in Wednesday's practice.
Bass dealt with the injury during the preseason but was able to kick in the Bills' preseason finale 11 days ago. Assuming he didn't suffer a setback in the week-plus since, Bass should be okay for Sunday night's Week 1 opener against the Ravens.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Busy night in preseason debut
Bass converted three of four field-goal attempts and made both extra-point tries in the Bills' 23-19 preseason win over the Buccaneers on Saturday night.
Bass had missed the Bills' first two preseason tilts due to a pelvic injury, but the veteran kicker looked to be in midseason form in his first game action of any kind since January. Bass connected on attempts from 37, 37 and 39 yards before misfiring on his shortest try of the night, a 26-yarder late in the fourth quarter that he missed wide right. Chris Brown of the team's official site reports head coach Sean McDermott confirmed Bass was limited to a distance of 48 yards in his first game back, but added that the coaches would "continue to bring him along this week." Given Saturday's performance, Bass looks set to reprise his fantasy-friendly role as the Bills' placekicker beginning with a Week 1 Sunday night home showdown against the Ravens.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Targeting preseason finale
Bills head coach Sean McDermott said Friday that Bass (pelvis) is "moving in the right direction" and hopes he'll be available for the team's preseason finale against Tampa Bay on Sat., Aug. 23, Katherine Fitzgerald of The Buffalo News reports.
Bass will practice in a limited capacity Friday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports, but he'll sit out Sunday's preseason matchup against the Bears as Buffalo continues to take a cautious approach to his recovery. Caden Davis will continue to handle first-team kicker duties for the Bills until Bass is fully cleared.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Won't play vs. Giants
Bass (pelvis) will not dress for the Bills' preseason opener against the Giants on Saturday, Jay Skurski of The Buffalo News reports.
The Bills signed Caden Davis on Friday, and he will handle the kicking duties for Saturday's preseason opener. Bass is working through a pelvic injury, and the veteran kicker will focus on recovering enough to be available for the Bills' second preseason game against the Bears on Sunday, Aug. 17.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Team expected to add another kicker
Bass (pelvis) isn't practicing Thursday, Maddy Glab of the Bills' official site reports.
With Bass's status for Saturday's preseason opener against the Giants in doubt, Buffalo worked out two other kickers Wednesday and will likely sign one before Saturday, per Lance Lysowski of The Buffalo News. Bass's job security isn't in question once healthy, as he spent the previous five seasons as Buffalo's kicker and converted at least 82.4 percent of regular-season field-goal attempts in every campaign.

Bills' Tyler Bass: Doesn't practice Tuesday
Bass (pelvis) did not participate in Tuesday's practice session, Maddy Glab and Kay Racine of the Bills' official site report.
Bass missed the Bills' first two practices of the week while working through a pelvic injury. Head coach Sean McDermott relayed Monday that the injury isn't serious, but the Bills may have to sign a kicker to the roster if Bass is unable to play in the team's preseason opener against the Giants on Aug. 9.
