Boykin landed on the Bears' practice squad Wednesday.
The wide receiver was let go by the team Tuesday despite a strong training camp and preseason. Given his performance in camp, Boykin's signing to the practice squad is perhaps not a surprise, though he faces an uphill battle for a roster spot during the regular season due to Chicago's depth at wide receiver. The 2019 third-round pick of the Ravens spent time on multiple practice squads in 2024 but never appeared in a regular-season game.

Boykin was unable to give it a go at practice Sunday, which places some doubt on his chances to play in the team's preseason opener Aug. 10 versus Miami. The wide receiver signed with the Bears in April after spending the majority of the 2024 campaign with the Seahawks' practice squad, failing to appear in a regular-season game for the first time since 2019.

Boykin was cut from the Giants' practice squad at the beginning of September, but he's now found a new opportunity in Seattle. The 2019 third-round pick's most recent in-game action came with the Steelers in 2023, when he appeared in 17 regular-season games, playing primarily on special teams (314 snaps).

New York wants to bring Boykin back on the practice squad, reports Fowler. A third-round pick by the Ravens in 2019, Boykin never developed into an NFL wideout, but he's been a special-teams standout. He has just six catches over the last three seasons but has played over 600 snaps on special teams in that time.

In 17 regular-season games while working mainly on special teams for the Steelers in 2023, Boykin caught three of his four targets for 17 yards. With the Giants, the 6-foot-4, 220-pounder will provide size and added depth to the squad's wide receiver corps and likely fill a similar role.

Boykin secured three of four targets for 17 yards over 17 games during the 2023 season.
Although Boykin appeared in every game during the 2023 regular season, he served mainly on special teams and didn't log double-digit receiving yards in any game. He's secured six of just eight targets for 34 yards over the past three seasons, and while he'll become a free agent during the offseason, it seems unlikely that he'll carve out a sizable role in 2024.

Boykin wasn't targeted in any of the last six matchups, but he logged a reception as part of the Steelers' strong offensive showing Saturday. He's secured three of four targets for 17 yards over 15 appearances this season and shouldn't be a fantasy-relevant player over the final two weeks of the year.

Boykin played 12 of the Steelers' 61 snaps on offense and went without a target in Sunday's 24-10 loss to the Cardinals.
Boykin went without a target for the fourth consecutive contest and will likely continue to see minimal involvement in the Pittsburgh passing game so long as fellow wideouts Diontae Johnson, George Pickens, Allen Robinson and Calvin Austin are all available.
