Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Blanked in preseason finale
Meyers failed to bring in his only target in the Raiders' 20-10 preseason loss to the Cardinals on Saturday night.
Meyers played on the Raiders' opening drive with Geno Smith and other starters but came up empty on his one opportunity. Despite a quiet preseason that saw him bring in only one of three targets for four yards, Meyers will begin the regular season against his old Patriots squad on Sunday, Sept. 7 as Las Vegas' No. 1 wide receiver, although tight end Brock Bowers could well prove to be Smith's top target over the course of the campaign.

Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Catches lone target in loss to SF
Meyers nabbed his only target for four yards in a preseason loss against the 49ers on Saturday.
After going catchless in Las Vegas' first exhibition contest against Seattle last Thursday, Meyers managed to haul in his only target Saturday. While the veteran wideout is lined up for a WR1 role with the Raiders, he's not expected to be the team's top option in the passing game -- that distinction will likely go to second-year tight end Brock Bowers. Meyers had the best regular season of his career last year with 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns, but his ability to replicate those numbers in 2025 will likely depend upon how much chemistry he has with new QB Geno Smith as well as how much the Raiders lean on their running game, which will be led by talented rookie Ashton Jeanty.

Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: No catches in preseason opener
Meyers didn't catch his only target in Thursday's 23-23 preseason tie against the Seahawks.
New Raiders quarterback Geno Smith played only one drive while some other starters played into the team's second possession. Meyers and Smith will have to wait to register their first connection in an NFL game, but the veteran wide receiver is poised to remain a key component of Vegas' offense come the regular season. Meyers has little to prove in the preseason, but he and the rest of the starters may get more playing time in the team's second preseason game against the 49ers on Aug. 16.

Raiders' Jakobi Meyers: Still top wideout in Vegas
As the Raiders' first training camp practice approaches, Meyers remains locked in as a starter in the team's wide receiver corps, Tashan Reed of The Athletic reports.
Though Meyers can also line up outside, most of his reps during OTAs came in the slot. After recording an 87-1,027-4 receiving line on a career high 129 targets over 15 regular-season games in 2024, the sure-handed pass catcher seems poised to maintain steady volume in an offense that is now helmed by veteran QB Geno Smith, who should represent an upgrade over Gardner Minshew and Aidan O'Connell. While Meyers remains entrenched as the Raiders' WR1, it's a three-man competition between Tre Tucker, Jack Bech and Dont'e Thornton for slotting behind the 28-year-old.
