  • Andy Isabella: Gets waived with injury

San Francisco waived Isabella (ankle) with a failure to disclose physical condition designation Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.

It wasn't a full week after Isabella signed with the 49ers before he suffered an ankle injury, per Matt Barrows of The Athletic, and he's now getting waived. In a corresponding transaction, San Francisco signed wide receiver Equanimeous St. Brown on Tuesday.

  • 49ers' Andy Isabella: Exits practice Monday

Isabella left practice Monday with an undisclosed injury, Nick Wagoner of ESPN.com reports.

The wide receiver signed with the 49ers on Thursday with the possibility of competing for a depth spot in a crowded receiver room. At the same time, Isabella was not able to elevate from Pittsburgh's practice squad in 2024, got cut by the Bills before last season and last caught an NFL pass in 2022 with the Cardinals. Any missed time will naturally hurt his chances of latching on to a roster spot.

  • 49ers' Andy Isabella: Signs with San Francisco

The 49ers signed Isabella to a one-year contract Thursday, Jennifer Lee Chan of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Isabella hasn't caught a regular-season pass since the 2022 season with the Cardinals, the team that selected him in the second round of the 2019 Draft. Isabella spent time in the UFL with the St. Louis Battlehawks earlier this year. He should be viewed as a longshot to make the Niners' 53-man roster.

  • Andy Isabella: Cut from Steelers' practice squad

Isabella was let go from the Steelers' practice squad Tuesday, Teresa Varley of the team's official site reports.

Isabella spent the first two months of the regular season without a team after failing to make the Bills' 53-man roster at the end of training camp. He managed to catch on with the Steelers' practice squad Oct. 25, but he was not elevated for a game. Assuming he clears waivers, Isabella will look to join a team in need of depth at wide receiver.

  • Andy Isabella: Joins Pittsburgh's practice squad

The Steelers signed Isabella to the practice squad Friday.

Isabella, who spent time with the Bills during the offseason, will now get a chance to operate in an emergency depth role for Pittsburgh. The 2019 second-round pick has appeared in four combined regular-season games with Buffalo over the last two years.

  • Andy Isabella: Cut by Buffalo

The Bills released Isabella on Tuesday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.

Selected with the No. 62 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft by the Cardinals, Isabella was cut by Arizona in October of 2022 and has spent the last couple years bouncing around the practice squads and active rosters of the Ravens and Bills. Now 27, Isabella is running out of time in the NFL and hasn't caught a regular-season pass since he left the Cardinals.

  • Bills' Andy Isabella: Recovers from injury

Isabella (leg) returned to practice Wednesday, Joe Buscaglia of The Athletic reports.

Isabella was able to make a quick recovery after being carted off the field Monday. The 27-year-old is likely facing an uphill battle to make the Bills' final 53-man roster, but his speedy return to the field should keep him in contention for now.

  • Bills' Andy Isabella: Carted off during camp

Isabella (leg) left Monday's camp session on a cart, Matt Parrino of The Syracuse Post-Standard reports.

The 2019 second-round pick out of UMass is fighting for a depth spot on Buffalo's 53-man roster after appearing in just four regular-season games in 2023. The severity of Isabella's injury is currently unknown, and if the 27-year-old misses time, his chances of making it through the Bills' final roster cuts are likely slim.

The Bills reverted Isabella to their practice squad Monday, per the NFL's transaction log.

The veteran wideout was more impactful on special teams, totaling 12 snaps and returning one kickoff for 25 yards. Isabella has been elevated from the practice squad twice this season, so the Bills can elevate him one more time before they'd have to sign him to the active roster in order to utilize him on gameday.
