Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Starters to sit Saturday
Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said Thursday that he plans to sit Arizona's starters and other key players during Saturday's preseason finale against the Raiders, as was the case during the team's second exhibition game against Denver, Darren Urban of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Murray and the rest of the starters handled the first two possessions of the Cardinals' preseason opener against Kansas City on Aug. 9, but the first-team offense appears to have shown enough in practices since for Gannon to feel confident heading into Week 1. A consistent drumbeat throughout training camp has been the improved connection between Murray and second-year wideout Marvin Harrison, an encouraging development considering that Arizona made no notable changes to its skill-position personnel from last season. Murray and Harrison's next opportunity to demonstrate their purportedly improved rapport will arrive during the regular-season opener in New Orleans on Sunday, Sept. 7.

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Improving connection with Harrison
Murray and Marvin Harrison have improved their rapport as training camp has progressed, Zach Gershman of the Cardinals' official site reports.
Most of the Cardinals' starting offense played the first two possessions of the team's preseason opener against Kansas City on Aug. 9, and Murray connected with Harrison once for 15 yards among his seven completions. During this past Saturday's exhibition loss to Denver, Murray didn't suit up, but that followed a joint practice in which the QB hooked up with Harrison on a handful of passes versus a tough Broncos secondary. Arizona didn't make any notable additions to its skill-position group this offseason, so the team is counting on Harrison to take a big leap forward in Year 2 and join tight end Trey McBride as one of Murray's top downfield options.

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Exceeds 100 total yards Saturday
Murray completed seven of eight passes for 96 yards with no touchdowns and one interception while adding two rushes for nine yards during the Cardinals' 20-17 preseason win over the Chiefs on Saturday night.
Murray's night got off to a rousing start in the form of 12- and 15-yard completions to Michael Wilson and Marvin Harrison, respectively, which he bookended with his pair of scrambles. However, Murray's third pass attempt -- intended for Harrison -- was picked off, although he bounced back to lead a 10-play, 67-yard march on his next possession that culminated in a field goal. Murray had several more noteworthy connections during the drive, including a 21-yard strike to Trey McBride and two completions to Greg Dortch that totaled that amount as well. The interception aside, it was a positive start to the preseason for the veteran signal-caller, who'll next face the Broncos on the road next Saturday night in Arizona's second preseason tilt.

Cardinals' Kyler Murray: Set to play Saturday
Murray and other starters are scheduled to play in Saturday's preseason opener against Kansas City, Bo Brack of GoPHNX.com reports.
Coach Jonathan Gannon informed reporters Tuesday afternoon, marking a departure from previous years when he used the first preseason game to evaluate the lower portions of his depth chart. Gannon didn't say how much Murray and other starters will play, and it's unclear if WRs Michael Wilson (concussion) and Marvin Harrison (knee) will be available -- although Harrison did return to practice Tuesday.
