  • Lions' James Williams: Lands in Detroit

Williams signed a contract with the Lions on Wednesday, Michael Rothstein of ESPN.com reports.

Williams spent time with the Chiefs and Colts earlier this offseason, and now replaces Zach Zenner on Detroit's 90-man roster. The undrafted rookie out of Washington State could have limited time to prove himself with the Lions, with Thursday's preseason finale against the Browns fast approaching.

Williams was waived by the Colts on Thursday.

Williams was signed by the Colts on Tuesday, so it was a short-lived stay with the team. The undrafted rookie out of Washington State will look to latch on elsewhere.

  • Colts' James Williams: Latches on with Colts

Williams signed a contract with Indianapolis on Tuesday, Mike Chappell of Fox 59 News Indianapolis reports.

Williams signed with the Chiefs after going undrafted out of Washington State in April, only to be released by the team in mid-June. The young running back will now have a chance to prove himself with the Colts in the second half of the preseason.

  • James Williams: Waived by Chiefs

Williams was let go by the Chiefs on Thursday.

Williams joined the Chiefs on April 28, but apparently didn't impress enough to earn a roster spot heading into training camp. The Washington State product was eying a backup role in Kansas City, and may be limited to the same situation if he finds another team prior to or during training camp in late July.

  • James Williams: Intends to join Chiefs

Williams is expected to sign with the Chiefs as an undrafted free agent, Brooke Pryor of The Kansas City Star reports.

Williams could prove to be an interesting addition to the Chiefs. He proved adept as both a runner and a receiver at Washington State and could be used in a myriad of ways in Kansas City's offense. For now he'll set his sights on earning a backup running back role with the team in 2019.
