Jaguars' Darnell Savage: Underwhelms in Jacksonville
Savage recorded 51 total tackles and six passes defended, including one interception, over 13 games in 2024.
The first-year Jaguar started all 13 games he appeared in this season, playing more than 90 percent of the team's defensive snaps in eight contests. However, Savage tallied the same amount of total tackles as he did in 2023 with the Packers, despite playing 190 more defensive snaps and appearing in three more games in 2024. The Maryland product showed flashes of brilliance, nonetheless, posting the most passes defended since his 2021 campaign. Savage is expected to remain one of Jacksonville's starting safeties in 2025, having signed a three-year, $21.75 million deal with the team last offseason.

Jaguars' Darnell Savage: Cleared to play Week 18
Savage passed concussion protocol and has been cleared to play in Sunday's game against the Colts, Demetrius Harvey of The Florida Times-Union reports.
Savage was inactive for Week 17 after being concussed the previous week. The veteran safety should resume his full-time role at the back end of Jacksonville's secondary for the regular-season finale. Through 12 contests this season, Savage has logged 42 tackles (33 solo), including two TFLs, and six pass breakups, including one interception.

Jaguars' Darnell Savage: Logs full practice Thursday
Savage (concussion) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.
Savage entered concussion protocols during the Jaguars' Week 16 loss to the Raiders, which caused him to be sidelined for Week 17 against the Titans. His ability to practice in full Thursday indicates that he is progressing through the league's five-step concussion protocol, though he'd have to clear it completely in order to play against the Colts on Sunday.

Savage took a hit to the head in the second quarter and went to the sidelines to be evaluated for a concussion. He won't be able to play in Week 17 against the Titans on Sunday, Dec. 29 until he clears the league's five-step concussion protocols. Savage recorded five total tackles (four solo) and two passes defensed in Sunday's 32-25 loss to the Jets.
Savage finished second on the team in takedowns, trailing only cornerback Tyson Campbell's six tackles in the loss. Savage has now produced 41 total tackles (33 solo) and six passes defensed, including an interception, over 11 games in his first season with the Jaguars.
