The Bills released Cain on Tuesday.
Cain spent part of the 2024 season on the Bills' practice squad but never suited up for a game. The 29-year-old hasn't played an NFL snap since the 2020 season, although he has played in the USFL and UFL the last three springs and was highly productive. Cain will be a candidate for the practice squad once again.

Bills' Deon Cain: Back with Buffalo
The Bills signed Cain to a contract Monday.
Cain spent the 2024 season on the Panthers' and Bills' practice squads before being let go by Buffalo in early December. He's back with the Bills, and while he's unlikely to make the 53-man roster, he will have a shot to make the practice squad at the conclusion of training camp. Cain last saw NFL regular-season action in 2020 as a member of the Steelers, when he appeared in two regular-season games and played 10 snaps on offense; however, he's consistently contributed as a member of the Birmingham Stallions in the USFL and UFL the last three springs, compiling 78 receptions for 1,132 yards and 11 touchdowns across 27 regular-season games in that span.

The Bills cut Cain from the practice squad Tuesday, Alaina Getzenberg of ESPN.com reports.
Cain caught on with the Bills' practice squad Oct. 31 after being cut from the Panthers' practice squad two weeks prior. He was not elevated to the active roster by either team, and he'll now explore his next options. Cain last saw NFL regular-season action in 2020 with the Steelers, playing 10 offensive snaps across two games and not showing up on the box score.

Cain hasn't suited up for NFL regular-season action since 2020 when he played two games with the Steelers, but he's recorded 65 receptions for 787 yards and eight touchdowns in the regular season and postseason across the last two springs with the USFL/UFL's Birmingham Stallions. Cain joined Buffalo for training camp in mid-August and signed a practice-squad deal with the Bills on Wednesday before being cut the following day. It didn't take long for the wideout to find a new organization, and he'll now set his sights on trying to return to an NFL active roster for the first time since 2020. Cain has logged snaps with Indianapolis and Pittsburgh in his career, accumulating nine receptions (on 20 targets) for 124 yards.

Deon Cain: Cut by Philly
Cain was let go by the Eagles on Saturday, Jeff McLane of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.
Cain had one of his better performances of the preseason during Thursday's 27-17 loss to the Colts, catching six of nine targets for 62 yards. However, it wasn't enough to secure a spot ahead of the team's final roster cuts at the end of August. Cain has not recorded a regular-season reception since 2020, and, if the Eagles do not opt to offer him a spot on the practice squad, then the 27-year-old will likely look to sign a contract elsewhere heading into the 2023 campaign.

Eagles' Deon Cain: Returns from injury
Cain (ankle) was targeted three times but did not record a catch in the Eagles' preseason game against the Browns on Thursday.
Cain signed with the Eagles in July before leaving an early training camp practice with an ankle injury. The 2018 sixth-round pick of the Colts spent time on Philadelphia's practice squad the last two seasons. The wide receiver has nine catches for 124 yards in 14 career games.
