Brandon Wegher: Released by Rams
Wegher was released by the Rams on Thursday, Gary Klein of the Los Angeles Times reports.
Wegher has failed to find a long-term landing spot since going undrafted two years ago. He previously spent the 2016 preseason with the Panthers, failing to make the final roster cut.

Brandon Wegher: Fails to make final roster
Wegher was among the Panthers' final roster cuts Saturday.
Wegher's release was perhaps the Panthers' most noteworthy from a fantasy perspective, as he was competing for a spot in the team's running back rotation. However, after totaling merely 83 rushing yards on 32 preseason carries, Wegher didn't do enough to make Carolina's regular season roster. Upon his release, the Panthers will carry starter Jonathan Stewart, Cameron Artis-Payne, Fozzy Whittaker and fullback Mike Tolbert as their backfield options.

Panthers' Brandon Wegher: Held in check Saturday
Wegher rushed eight times for 24 yards in Saturday's preseason win over the Titans.
Wegher once again led the Panthers in carries but also failed to find much room to run after gaining just 13 yards on 10 carries in Carolina's preseason opener. Although he made a tackle on special teams, he couldn't capitalize on teammate Fozzy Whittaker not getting any carries Saturday and should have to continue to fight for a roster spot in the Panthers' two remaining preseason tilts.

Panthers' Brandon Wegher: Leads Panthers in carries
Wegher rushed 10 times for 13 yards and caught one pass for four yards in Thursday's preseason opener against the Ravens.
Wegher, who is vying for the Panthers' No. 3 running back job, led Carolina in carries Thursday. Unfortunately, he couldn't find much room to run when he got the ball, but neither did Fozzy Whittaker, who finished with three carries for zero yards despite starting in Jonathan Stewart's (rest) absence. With Cameron Artis-Payne and fullback Mike Tolbert also in the backfield shuffle, Wegher will obviously look to improve on his performance when the Panthers suit up next Saturday against the Titans.
