Allen Hurns: Let go by Dolphins
Hurns (wrist) has been released by the Dolphins with a failed physical designation.
Hurns, who opted out of the 2020 season, also missed missed the 2021 campaign after undergoing wrist surgery in August. If the 30-year-old can reprove his health in the coming months, the wideout could catch on with another team and compete for a roster spot in that context, but for now Hurns is off the fantasy radar.

Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Returns to IR
Hurns (wrist) was shifted back to IR after being activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list Friday, Aaron Wilson of Sportstalk 790 Houston reports.
Hurns suffered a wrist injury that required surgery in August and was ruled out for the season. Now cleared from COVID protocols, Hurns can return to the Dolphins' facilities to prepare for a return in 2022.

Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Placed on COVID-19 list
The Dolphins placed Hurns (wrist/undisclosed) on the reserve/COVID-19 list Sunday.
Hurns has been on injured reserve since mid-August after he underwent wrist surgery, but he'll now need to isolate from the team. Once the receiver is activated from the COVID-19 list, he'll revert to IR.

Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Set to miss three months
Hurns requires surgery to address a wrist injury and is expected to miss three months, Adam Schefter of ESPN reports.
Hurns missed Saturday's preseason contest against the Bears, and the full severity of his injury now has been disclosed. The 29-year-old already was facing tough competition for a depth role in Miami's wide receiver room, and his three-month injury could result in the team leaving him out of future plans on offense. Expect Hurns to be placed on injured reserve in the coming days, and for the likes of Robert Foster, Isaiah Ford, Malcolm Perry and Kirk Merritt to see a slight uptick in camp opportunities.

Hurns isn't listed with any sort of injury, but it's possible a reason for the veteran wide receiver's absence will be revealed post game. Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Returns for offseason program
Hurns participated in Miami's offseason program.
Hurns took the COVID-19 opt out last year, tolling the final years of his contract to 2021-22. The deal includes a $1.25 million guarantee on his $1.875 million base salary this season, so the Dolphins won't have much financial/cap incentive to release him this summer. However, the team does have tough competition for roster spots at wide receiver behind likely starters DeVante Parker, Will Fuller (suspension) and Jaylen Waddle. In addition to Hurns and fellow 2020 opt out Albert Wilson, the team has Preston Williams (foot), Lynn Bowden, Jakeem Grant and Mack Hollins competing for depth roles.

Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Opts out of season
Hurns has elected to opt out of the 2020 season, Aaron Wilson of the Houston Chronicle reports.
In a statement via Twitter, Hurns noted that he made the decision with what's best for his family in mind. The 28-year-old hauled in 32 passes for 416 yards and two TDs in 14 games with the Dolphins last season. With Hurns having opted out, DeVante Parker, Preston Williams and Albert Wilson currently top the team's wideout depth chart.

Dolphins' Allen Hurns: Likely headed for depth role
Hurns projects for a backup role in 2020, Armando Salguero of The Miami Herald reports.
Hurns opened last season in a part-time role and elevated to the No. 2 receiver job after Preston Williams suffered an ACL tear in Week 9. The 28-year-old had an efficient season with a 68.1 percent catch rate and 8.9 yards per target, but he never topped five catches or 68 yards in any one game, ultimately catching 32 passes on 522 offensive snaps. Given that he signed a two-year extension in November, Hurns figures to keep his roster spot in 2020, though the extent of his role may depend on Williams' recovery. The Dolphins might also consider using Hurns in the slot, especially if Albert Wilson becomes a cap casualty. Hurns' experience playing both inside and outside makes him useful as a No. 4 receiver, capable of filling in at any of the WR spots. He should be fully recovered from the ankle and neck injuries that caused him to miss Week 17 last season.
