Panthers' Austin Corbett: Returning in 6-8 weeks
Head coach Dave Canales told reporters Monday that Corbett (knee) is expected to return in 6-8 weeks, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Corbett sustained an MCL injury in his left knee during the Panthers' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals and was placed on injured reserve later that week, making Week 7 against the Giants his earliest possible return. However, Canales comments Monday indicate that Corbett will be sidelined for several games beyond that. In his absence, Cade Mays is expected to remain the Panthers' top center.

Panthers' Austin Corbett: Officially placed on IR
The Panthers placed Corbett (knee) on injured reserve Tuesday, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Corbett suffered an MCL injury to his left knee during the Panthers' Week 2 loss to the Cardinals on Sunday. He'll be required to miss at least the next four games, though head coach Dave Canales said Monday that Corbett would be sidelined for longer -- perhaps the entire season -- were he to undergo surgery, per Gantt. Cade Mays will likely take over as the Panthers' starting center while Corbett is sidelined.

The Panthers will place Corbett on injured reserve Monday after he suffered an MCL injury to his left knee during Sunday's 27-22 loss to the Cardinals, Darin Gantt of the team's official site reports.
Corbett exited Sunday's loss in the second quarter due to the knee injury, resulting in Cade Mays finishing the game at center. Head coach Dave Canales said Monday he's unsure whether Corbett will undergo surgery, but the Panthers haven't discounted the possibility of the 30-year-old playing again this season. Carolina will be without two key interior offensive lineman for the foreseeable future after right guard Robert Hunt suffered a torn biceps in Sunday's game.

Corbett went down with a knee injury in the second half of the game, ultimately not returning to action in Week 2. The exact nature of the injury is unclear, but his status at practice will be worth keeping an eye on ahead of the team's Week 3 matchup with the Falcons at home.

Panthers' Austin Corbett: Will start at center
Coach Dave Canales said Monday that Corbett will be Carolina's starting center in 2025, Darin Gantt of the Panthers' official site reports.
Corbett had been competing for the role of starting center with Cade Mays during training camp, and now he has ultimately won the position battle. The Panthers are hoping he'll be able to hold up in pass protection after they ran a pass-first offense in 2024, and the veteran's athleticism (5.15-second 40) should help in that department.

Panthers' Austin Corbett: Staying in Carolina
Corbett (biceps) signed a one-year contract with the Panthers on Saturday, Mike Kaye of The Charlotte Observer reports.
The deal ensures Corbett doesn't enter the open market as an unrestricted free agent. He converted from right guard to center for the 2024 campaign following the acquisition of Robert Hunt, but Corbett's season came to an end in October after he tore his biceps against the Bears in Week 5. Once fully healthy, Corbett will compete for the starting center job for 2025.
