Shaquem Griffin: Retires from NFL
Griffin announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday.
Griffin will hang up his cleats after a four-year NFL career, finishing with 24 tackles including a sack, while also deflecting a pass over 46 games with the Seahawks. The linebacker may not have had the longevity he hoped for in his career, but his story of personal perseverance has inspired a generation of athletes.

Dolphins' Shaquem Griffin: Joins forces with Dolphins
Miami signed Griffin to a one-year contract Friday, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.
Griffin spent the first three seasons of his NFL career in Seattle, where he contributed regularly on special teams while handling a depth defensive role. The situational pass rusher stands to handle a similar gig in Miami's linebacker corps.

Seahawks' Shaquem Griffin: Back on active roster
The Seahawks promoted Griffin to their active roster Friday, John Boyle of the team's official website reports.
This will mark the second time Griffin has been moved up to the team's active roster from its practice squad this season. With Jordyn Brooks (knee) sidelined, some combination of Griffin, Ben Burr-Kirven and Cody Barton should all see some snaps at strongside linebacker.

Seahawks' Shaquem Griffin: Returns to active roster
The Seahawks elevated Griffin to the active roster Saturday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
When the Seahawks waived Griffin at the end of training camp, coach Pete Carroll predicted he'd be back on the active roster soon. Bruce Irvin's unfortunate season-ending torn ACL opened up a roster spot for Griffin, who will mainly serve on special teams and in pass-rushing scenarios moving forward.

Shaquem Griffin: Ends up on practice squad
The Seahawks signed Griffin to the practice squad Sunday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.
Griffin was fully expected to land on Seattle's practice squad after the team waived him amid roster cuts Saturday. The 2018 fifth-round pick, who mostly contributed on special-teams while also handling a depth defensive role during his tenure on the active roster, will get the benefit of continuing to develop with the Seahawks' coaching staff.

The Seahawks waived Griffin on Saturday, Gregg Bell of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Grifin was expected to battle for a pass-rushing role with the Seahawks, but the offseason acquisitions of Bruce Irvin (hip) and rookie Jordyn Brooks left Griffin on the outside looking in. He's worked mainly on special teams since being taken in the fifth round of the 2018 NFL Draft, and if he clears waivers, he'll likely stick on the team's practice squad.

Griffin appears to be on the roster bubble, Bob Condotta of the Seattle Times reports.
It can't hurt that his brother, Shaquill, is the Seahawks' No. 1 cornerback. However, the linebacking Griffin is facing a tough numbers crunch, with the Seahawks bringing in three draft picks at the position the past two years, including 2020 first-rounder Jordyn Brooks. With Bobby Wagner and K.J. Wright also on the roster, it appears Griffin will need to make his mark on special teams again. He played 441 snaps on special teams the past two seasons, compared to only 146 on defense.

Seahawks' Shaquem Griffin: Pass-rushing role in 2019
Griffin, who notched a sack in the divisional-round loss the Packers, recorded five tackles over 16 regular-season games.
Griffin's first NFL sack was a memorable one, as he took down Aaron Rodgers in a playoff game. The second-year linebacker only played a handful of defensive snaps in 2019, but when he was on the field, he was typically used in a pass-rushing role. Griffin fell behind rookie Cody Barton -- who started both postseason games -- on the depth chart, so the former will likely play a similar role in 2020 depending on if the team retains Mychal Kendricks or adds another outside linebacker in the offseason.

Griffin (knee) was a full participant at Thursday's practice, John Boyle of the Seahawks' official site reports.
Griffin missed two games over the course of the preseason with a knee injury, but he looks to have improved health ahead of Week 1's matchup against the Bengals. He should slot in as a depth option at linebacker and contribute on special teams.
