Lions' Zach Cunningham: Out again for Week 5

Cunningham will miss his second straight game. The veteran linebacker logged just 11 defensive snaps and another 49 on special teams across the first three games of the season.

Lions' Zach Cunningham: No go for Week 4
Cunningham (hamstring) has been ruled out for Sunday's contest against the Browns, Eric Woodyard of ESPN.com reports.
Cunningham appears to have picked up a hamstring injury at practice this week, which will now sideline him in Week 4. In his absence, Trevor Nowaske and Grant Stuard could absorb some workload at middle linebacker versus Cleveland.

Lions' Zach Cunningham: Going to Motor City
Detroit signed Cunningham on Tuesday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Cunningham has played for four different NFL teams in his career, most recently suiting up for seven regular-season games with Denver in 2024. For the first time though, the linebacker was used more frequently on special teams than on defense. He'll probably only fill a depth role for the Lions in 2025, and Cunningham's days of being a lock for 100-plus tackles in a season would seem to be long behind him.

Broncos' Zach Cunningham: Signed to Denver's active roster
The Broncos signed Cunningham off the practice squad to the active roster Wednesday, Eric DiLalla of the team's official site reports.
Cunningham played in 13 regular-season games for the Eagles in 2023 and posted 85 tackles (54 solo), four pass defenses and one fumble recovery, but he wasn't with a team during training camp. He eventually caught on with the Broncos on the practice squad in late September to provide depth at inside linebacker after Alex Singleton tore his ACL in Week 3 against the Buccaneers. Cunningham has been elevated by the Broncos for the last three games, and over his last two outings he logged three tackles (one solo) while playing 21 snaps (13 on defense, eight on special teams). Now that he's on the 53-man roster, Cunningham will continue to serve as a rotational inside linebacker behind starters Justin Strnad and Cody Barton.

Zach Cunningham: Joins Broncos' practice squad
The Broncos signed Cunningham to their practice squad Wednesday.
The 29-year-old linebacker has been brought in by the Broncos in response to Alex Singleton tearing his ACL in the team's Week 3 win over the Buccaneers and being placed on injured reserve Wednesday. Cunningham appeared in 13 regular-season games with the Eagles last season, recording 85 total tackles and four passes defended. He could be elevated to Denver's active roster in the near future to serve as a rotational inside linebacker.

Eagles' Zach Cunningham: Finishes with 85 tackles
Cunningham ended the year with 85 tackles (54 solo) and a pair of fumble recoveries in 13 regular-season games.
Hamstring and knee issues cost Cunningham four of the final six weeks of the season, but he returned for Week 18 and the playoffs, so he should be good to go for next season. He's still capable of putting up a high tackle total, though his 85 stops paled in comparison from his league-leading 164 from 2020.

Eagles' Zach Cunningham: Full participant Thursday
Cunningham (knee) was a full participant in practice Thursday after participating on a limited basis in Wednesday's walkthrough.
The linebacker has missed the Eagles' last three games but appears to be trending toward a return for Sunday's matchup with the Giants. Cunningham has 80 tackles, four passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 12 games this season.

Eagles' Zach Cunningham: Limited at Wednesday's walkthrough
Cunningham (knee) was deemed a limited participant in Wednesday's practice walk-through.
Cunningham has missed Philadelphia's past three games while dealing with a knee injury, though he was able to log a trio of limited practice sessions last week. The Eagles could win the NFC East title this weekend with a win and a Dallas loss, so there is motivation for Cunningham to try to make it back for the regular-season finale. If he remains out Sunday versus the Giants, however, Nolan Smith figures to continue to see extra work on defense.
