Eagles' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Finds work in Philly
The Eagles signed Okoronkwo on Tuesday.
Okoronkwo was released by the Browns last month. He initially signed a three-year deal with Cleveland ahead of the 2023 season and appeared in 30 regular-season games for the team across his two campaigns, registering 54 tackles (37 solo), including 7.5 sacks, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. Okoronkwo gives the Eagles some more depth off the edge.

Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Let go by Browns
Cleveland released Okoronkwo on Thursday, Kelsey Russo of the team's official site reports.
Okoronkwo had been under contract with the Browns for one more season via the three-year, $19 million deal he inked with the team in 2023, so his release is somewhat surprising even after a down year in 2024. He played a sizable rotational role in Cleveland's pass rush in both 2023 and 2024, finishing last year with 23 tackles (15 solo), including 3.0 sacks, plus one forced fumble while playing all 17 regular-season games. Okoronkwo will draw fair interest around the league for teams in need of a rotational contributor, and his departure opens up opportunities behind Myles Garrett with the Browns for all of Joe Tryon-Shoyinka, Alex Wright and Isaiah McGuire.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Down year in 2024
Okoronkwo tallied 23 total tackles, including 3.0 sacks, and one forced fumble over 16 games in 2024.
The veteran defensive tackle saw his production decline significantly this season compared to 2023, recording fewer tackles (31 to 23), fewer sacks (4.5 to 3.0) and fewer passes defended (one to zero) in 2024, despite playing in two more games. Okoronkwo made five starts this season, recording just eight total tackles, including 1.0 sacks, and one forced fumble in those contests. He's now entering the final season of a three-year, $19 million deal signed with Cleveland in 2022. Expect Okoronkwo to remain one of the Browns' top rotational defensive linemen heading into the 2025 season.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Able to suit up Week 18
Okoronkwo (knee) is not among the Browns' inactives for Saturday's tilt against Baltimore.
Okoronkwo missed last Sunday's game against Miami due to a knee injury, but he'll be able to return to the field Saturday. The veteran defensive lineman has seen his role fluctuate throughout the campaign but typically plays around half of the Browns' defensive snaps. Sam Kamara might see a bit less defensive work Saturday due to Okoronkwo being back in action.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Questionable for Week 18
Okoronkwo (knee) is questionable to play Saturday versus the Ravens.
Okoronkwo was unavailable for the team's Week 17 loss to the Dolphins due to a knee injury and his status for Week 18 is now up in the air. The defensive lineman was able to log three limited practices during the week, opening the door for him to return to the field in the regular-season finale against Baltimore.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Out for Week 17
Okoronkwo (knee) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Dolphins, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Okoronkwo will miss his first game of the season in Week 17. He'd previously dealt with a knee issue in late October but managed to play through the injury. Okoronkwo has recorded 22 tackles (14 solo), including five TFLs and 3.0 sacks, and one forced fumble across 15 appearances this season. He'd started five of the previous six contests for Cleveland. James Houston could get some extra reps as a sub-package edge rusher.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Records sack in loss
Okoronkwo recorded four tackles, 1.0 sacks and forced a fumble in Sunday's 35-14 loss to the Saints in Week 11.
This was Cleveland's first game since it traded Za'Darius Smith to Detroit, which made snaps available for depth defensive ends. Okoronkwo and Isaiah McGuire were the names most often discussed as beneficiaries of the trade. The sack was the third of the season for Okoronkwo, who was part of the starting 11 on defense and should continue to see a bump in playing time without Smith around.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Past knee injury
Okoronkwo (knee) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Chargers, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Okoronkwo began the Browns' week of practice with back-to-back limited sessions after sustaining a knee injury in the team's Week 8 win over the Ravens. However, he upgraded to full practice Friday, suggesting that he's moved past his knee issue in time for Week 9. Expect the 29-year-old to serve as the Browns' top rotational defensive end Sunday.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Set for Sunday
Okoronkwo (illness) was a full participant during practice Wednesday.
Okoronkwo exited Sunday's loss to the Commanders early due to illness, but when the Browns returned to the practice field Wednesday, the Oklahoma product was feeling well. He should be all set to suit up Week 6 against the Eagles.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Exits early
Okoronkwo (illness) has left Sunday's game against the Commanders, Daniel Oyefusi of ESPN.com reports.
Okoronkwo's exit will be a blow to the Browns' defensive line depth as they finish out Week 5 against the Commanders. While he's sidelined, Sam Kamara and Isaiah McGuire will likely see extra snaps on the edges.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Past head injury
Okoronkwo was cleared from concussion protocol Monday, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Okoronkwo sustained a head injury in the fourth quarter of Sunday's win, but it appears he's already moved past the issue. The 29-year-old has yet to record a stat while playing 58 total snaps (37 defensive and 21 on special teams) across two games. Despite a slow start, Okoronkwo is expected to remain one of the Browns' top rotational edge rushers as the team takes on the Giants in Week 3.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Enters concussion protocols
Head coach Kevin Stefanski told reporters after Sunday's 18-13 win over the Jaguars that Okoronkwo (head) is being evaluated for a concussion, Zac Jackson of The Athletic reports.
Okoronkwo sustained a head injury on the Browns' final defensive series in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game, and he finished the game without recording a tackle. His practice participation leading up to Week 3 against the Giants will be worth monitoring. If Okoronkwo is unable to suit up for the Browns' next game, then Alex Wright would serve as the primary backup defensive end behind starters Myles Garrett and Za'Darius Smith.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Delivers in first year
Okoronkwo recorded 31 tackles, 4.5 sacks, one pass defensed and a fumble recovery over 14 regular-season games for the Browns in 2023.
Okoronkwo parlayed a strong 2022 season with the Texans into a three-year deal in Cleveland, and the 28-year-old edge rusher gave maximum effort when not sidelined by injury. He showed that grit in returning from a December pectoral injury that initially appeared to be of the season-ending variety. Okoronkwo maintained a spot in the rotation at defensive end along with Myles Garrett and Za'Darius Smith. It looks like the Browns hit in Year 1 of the deal, and Okoronkwo should remain part of the edge rotation in 2024.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Returning Week 18
Okoronkwo (pectoral) has no injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Kelsey Russo of the Browns official site reports.
Okoronkwo had missed Cleveland's last three games with this pectoral injury, but it now seems as if he's had enough time to move past the issue. The 28-year-old could very well start on the Browns' defensive line with Myles Garrett (shoulder/hamstring) missing the team's regular-season finale.

Browns' Ogbonnia Okoronkwo: Won't play vs. Jets
Okoronkwo (pectoral) is listed as out for Thursday's game versus the Jets, Mary Kay Cabot of The Cleveland Plain Dealer reports.
Okoronkwo will be sidelined for his third straight game Thursday due to a pectoral tear. In his place, 2022 third-round pick Alex Wright will likely see an uptick in reps as the Browns' top edge rusher off the bench.
