Browns' Damontae Kazee: Finds work in Cleveland
Kazee signed with the Browns on Monday, Scott Petrak of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram reports.
The veteran safety from San Diego State will remain in the AFC North after spending the last three seasons of his career in Pittsburgh. Kazee appeared in 15 regular-season games for the Steelers in 2024, recording 31 total tackles and two passes defended, including one interception, while playing 278 defensive snaps. He's now expected to compete with Trey Dean for one of the Browns' top reserve safety roles this summer.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Sees reduced role in 2024
Kazee finished the 2024 regular season with 31 tackles (22 solo) and two pass defenses, including an interception, over 15 games.
Kazee started just one game this season after working mostly as a starter last year. Predictably, his numbers plummeted, though he still managed to record a pickoff for the fourth straight campaign. Kazee is set to become a free agent, and though he's been steady regardless of his role while with Pittsburgh, it's unclear if he'll be back with the Steelers next season.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Piles up eight tackles in start
Kazee recorded eight tackles (four solo) in the Steelers' loss to the Eagles on Sunday.
With DeShon Elliott (hamstring) out for Week 15, Kazee made his first start of the season and logged a season-best 80 percent of the defensive snaps. On the year, Kazee has 24 tackles (15 solo) and one interception as a third safety and special teamer.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Good to go vs. Cincinnati
Kazee (illness) does not have an injury designation ahead of Sunday's game against the Bengals, Teresa Varley of the Steelers' official site reports.
Kazee was unable to practice Thursday due to an illness, but he appears to no longer be under the weather after logging a full practice Friday. As a rotational safety this year, Kazee has logged 12 tackles (eight solo) and one interception across nine regular-season games.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Doesn't practice due to illness
Kazee (illness) didn't practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Kazee didn't have a designation on Wednesday's estimated practice report, so his illness appears to have recently emerged. It's unclear at this point if the safety is at risk of missing Sunday's Week 13 game versus Cincinnati. Kazee has been used in a rotational role this season, as he hasn't logged more than 36 percent of Pittsburgh's defensive snaps in any game so far.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Full practice Thursday
Kazee (ankle) was a full participant at the Steelers' practice Thursday, Brooke Pryor of ESPN.com reports.
Kazee is all set to return to the field in Week 8 after missing the last two games with an ankle injury. The 31-year-old could step into a starting role at strong safety with DeShon Elliott (back) banged up ahead of Pittsburgh's matchup versus the Giants on Monday Night Football.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Unavailable for Sunday
Kazee (ankle) is inactive for Sunday's contest against the Jets.
Kazee will be forced to miss a second straight game as he continues to nurse an ankle injury that he suffered ahead of the team's Week 5 matchup with the Cowboys. Terrell Edmunds and Miles Killebrew will likely see an uptick in usage again in Week 7 versus New York.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Gets questionable tag
Kazee (ankle) is listed as questionable ahead of Sunday's matchup with the Jets, Steelers writer Burt Lauten reports.
Kazee is coming off his first missed game of the season and in danger of missing his second. His final status will depend on how his ankle is feeling closer to kickoff. Miles Killebrew and Terrell Edmunds would be candidates to back up DeShon Elliott at strong safety if Kazee is unable to get the green light.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Out against Raiders
Kazee (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Raiders, Pittsburgh's official site reports.
Kazee will miss his first matchup of the season after hurting his ankle during pregame warmups last week against Dallas. The 5-foot-11 safety has eight tackles (seven solo) and one interception on the season, with the bulk of his field time being spent on special teams.

Steelers' Damontae Kazee: Unlikely to play at Raiders
Coach Mike Tomlin said Tuesday that Kazee (ankle) is doubtful to play in Week 6 at Las Vegas, Missi Matthews of the Steelers' official site reports.
Kazee suffered an ankle injury during pregame warmups before Sunday's tilt versus Dallas, Ray Fittipaldo of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. It looks like he might have to sit out for at least one game as he deals with it. In that case, Terrell Edmunds may see increased snaps.
