Jamil Douglas: Terminated at roster deadline
Douglas (ankle) was released by the Giants on Tuesday, Michael Eisen of the team's official site reports.
Douglas played all 66 offensive snaps during the Giants' final exhibition game Sunday after missing time with an ankle injury this preseason, but this was not enough to secure his spot on the team's final 53-man roster. The 30-year-old offensive lineman played 33 games between Tennessee, Buffalo and Washington over the past three years, and he will now likely look to carve out a reserve role on a practice squad or active roster elsewhere this season.

Giants' Jamil Douglas: Returns to practice
Douglas (ankle) returned to practice this week, Dan Duggan of The Athletic reports.
Douglas injured his ankle during the first half of the Giants' first preseason game Aug. 11, and he missed the team's second exhibition contest. However, he has been practicing since Thursday and has a chance to play in the preseason finale against the Jets on Sunday. Douglas is battling for a spot on the initial 53-man roster and will serve as depth along the offensive line if he makes the team.

Giants' Jamil Douglas: Out at least a week
Giants head coach Brian Daboll said Sunday that Douglas (ankle) will likely be sidelined for at least a week, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports.
Douglas limped off the field with an apparent ankle injury during the first half of Thursday's preseason game. While the extent of the issue remains unclear, the 30-year-old will likely remain sidelined for at least a week. Any extended absence will make it extremely difficult for the veteran offensive lineman to make the Giants' initial 53-man roster.

Giants' Jamil Douglas: Won't return Thursday
Douglas (ankle) was ruled out for the remainder of Thursday's preseason game against the Patriots, Pat Leonard of the New York Daily News reports
Douglas limped off the field with an apparent ankle injury during the first half Thursday night, though the exact nature of this issue is still unclear. The 30-year-old offensive lineman is expected to compete with Max Garcia, Josh Rivas and Shane Lemieux (toe) for a backup role on the Giants' interior offensive line this preseason, though his chances to make the final 53-man roster could be greatly affected if he misses substantial time this preseason.

Giants' Jamil Douglas: Agrees to deal with Giants
Douglas and the Giants agreed to a deal Friday.
Douglas will join his eighth team in as many seasons since entering the NFL and will reunite with new Giants head coach Brian Daboll, who was his offensive coordinator in Buffalo last season. The veteran isn't expected to compete for a starting job out of training camp, but his versatility and experience at all three interior offensive line spots makes him a valuable piece heading into 2022.
