Kenbrell Thompkins: Heads to Canada
Thompkins signed a contract Tuesday with the Canadian Football League's Winnipeg Blue Bombers.
After failing to crack an NFL roster while attending training camps with the Jets in both of the past two seasons, Thompkins will head to Canada in an attempt to recharge his stagnant career. With 70 receptions for 893 yards and four touchdowns in 33 career games with the Patriots, Raiders and Jets, Thompkins immediately becomes one of the more accomplished receivers in the CFL. Even if he performs well with Winnipeg, however, it seems rather unlikely he'll be able to parlay it into another NFL opportunity. He's set to turn 30 in July and was never much more than a depth wideout and fringe roster player in his younger, more productive years in the NFL.

Kenbrell Thompkins: Waived by Jets
Thompkins was waived by the Jets on Saturday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Just like last season, Thompkins was expected to make the 53-man roster, but he didn't make it past cut day. If he's picked up, he'll likely be delegated to a depth receiver role with special teams action as well.

Jets' Kenbrell Thompkins: Signs with Jets
Thompkins signed with the Jets on Wednesday.
Thompkins was released by the Jets last September but following a string of injuries and a plethora of struggles from the current receiving corps, the Jets opted to give the veteran wideout another crack at making an impact. On most other teams Thompkins would be much of an afterthought, but the Jets' thin list of receivers could spell good news for Thompkins.

Kenbrell Thompkins: Released by Jets
Tompkins (groin) was released by the Jets on Saturday, Kimberley Martin of Newsday Sports reports.
It looks as if the Jets are leaning towards a younger receiving corps. While it looked like Thompkins was in place to be the team's No. 4 wideout, he'll now be out of work. Should he find another home, it will be Thompkins' fourth team in three years.

Jets' Kenbrell Thompkins: Won't play against Giants
Thompkins (groin) will not play in Saturday's preseason game against the Giants.
Thompkins missed some practice time during the week and will thus be held out of Friday's game. He's seemingly the favorite for the No. 4 wideout job, though it isn't exactly clear where the Jets' depth chart stands after Brandon Marshall, Eric Decker and Quincy Enunwa.

Jets' Kenbrell Thompkins: Limited at practice Wednesday
Thompkins (groin) was limited at practice again on Wednesday.
Thompkins was back in pads, but was only seen doing some light running on the side and didn't actually go through team portions. However, it appears his groin injury isn't anything serious and he's nearing a return, so it wouldn't be surprising if he's available for Saturday's preseason game against the Giants, unless the team wants to play it safe with their 28-year-old wide receiver.

Jets' Kenbrell Thompkins: Misses practice Monday
Thompkins sat out Monday's practice due to a groin injury.
It's unclear when Thompkins sustained the injury, but this is the first practice he has missed as a a result of it. The team has not indicated how severe the issue is. The 28-year-old currently projects as the fourth receiver on the team's depth chart. He accumulated 165 yards on 17 receptions in seven games with the Jets last season.

Jets' Kenbrell Thompkins: Extended tender by Jets
Thompkins has been extended the low tender ($1.67 million) by the Jets, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reports.
The Jets will have the right of first refusal on any contract Thompkins signs, so if they really want him back in New York, he'll be wearing green again next year. Thompkins has caught 38 passes for 427 yards and no touchdowns over the past two seasons.
