A.J. Cann: Time up with Texans
Houston is releasing Cann on Tuesday, Aaron Wilson of KPRC 2 Houston reports.
Cann's grip on the Texans' starting right guard spot became jeopardized by the team's trade acquisition of Shaq Mason from the Buccaneers. The 31-year-old veteran, who played at a solid level during the 2022 season, will now have to test the open market as he looks to court a new team.

Texans' A.J. Cann: Returns as full participant
Cann (illness) practiced fully Tuesday.
Cann missed Sunday's game against the Titans due to an illness, but his ability to partake in Tuesday's session in full capacity suggests the issue is no longer a concern. The 320-pounder is expected to return to his usual starting right guard role when Houston hosts the Eagles on Thursday night.

Texans' A.J. Cann: Downgraded to out
Cann has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Titans due to an illness.
Cann presumably picked up the aliment Saturday and won't be able to play Sunday. Fellow offensive guards Kenyon Green (shoulder) and Justin McCray (hand) are both questionable, so KC McDermott may be thrust into an expanded role in Week 8.

Texans' A.J. Cann: Inks two-year deal with Houston
Cann (knee) agreed to terms Monday on a two-year, $10.5 million contract with the Texans, Aaron Wilson of ProFootballNetwork.com reports.
Cann had held down the fort as a reliable interior option along Jacksonville's offensive line since being drafted by the team back in 2015, prior to missing all but four contests in 2021 due to a knee injury. He will get a chance to bounce back over the course of a two-year stint in Houston.
