Howard started all 16 games at right tackle last season for the Ravens, but the two sides are likely to part ways just seven months after the team signed him to a three-year, $15 million contract. The move would free up $3 million in cap space for Baltimore. Howard (shoulder) signed with the Ravens on Friday, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.
Howard was released by the Raiders last week at the start of the third season of a five-year, $30 million contract signed back in 2014. Although a shoulder injury that required January surgery contributed toward a decline in his play last year, Howard's addition in Baltimore figures to provide needed support up front, where Marshal Yanda is the only other experienced option. Now 30 years old, Howard has started 71 games over the past five seasons, so he should compete for the Ravens' first-team gig at right tackle upon his arrival.

Austin Howard: Released by Raiders
Howard was released by the Raiders on Friday, Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network reports.
Howard signed a five-year, $30 million deal in March of 2014. Last season was considered a down year for the 30-year-old, but a shoulder injury may have played a factor in his on-field performance. He eventually had surgery on the shoulder in January and will presumably land on another roster in a role providing depth on the line.

Howard (shoulder) is still awaiting clearance to practice after undergoing offseason shoulder surgery, Scott Bair of CSNBayArea.com reports.
Howard had originally hoped to participate in OTAs and minicamp, but the right tackle will have to wait until at least training camp to make his return to the practice field. Marshall Newhouse could have the clear upper hand on the competition for starting right tackle if Howard misses additional time during training camp.
