  • Stedman Bailey: Pursuing comeback

Bailey, who postponed his playing career after being shot twice in the head during a Nov. 24, 2015 incident, is pursuing an NFL comeback, Grant Taylor of The Huntington Herald-Dispatch reports. The wideout took part in Marshall University's pro day workout, which featured several scouts in attendance.

Bailey was in the midst of his third professional season with the Rams before his involvement in the nearly fatal incident, which kept him in critical condition in a medically induced coma for a spell. The wideout improved after being treated by doctors and was cleared to run routes on the field just five months later, but that wasn't enough to draw interest from teams after the Rams released him in June 2016. Now nearly two and a half years removed from the serious brain injury and with a metal plate now inserted into his skull to offer protection against the head trauma inherent in football, Bailey feels ready to get back on the field and show talent evaluators he still has something left in the tank. If the 27-year-old does end up signing with a team, expect any deal to contain very little guaranteed money.

  • Stedman Bailey: Dumped by Rams

Bailey (head) has been waived by the Rams with a non-football injury designation, ESPN's Adam Schefter reports.

Bailey suffered a pair of gunshot wounds to the head last November, underwent surgery soon after, and has been working relentlessly to return to the field since. Unfortunately, his release from the team suggests the Rams don't believe his playing career can continue much longer, if at all. Should he clear waivers, NFL Network's Steve Wyche reported that Bailey is expected to rejoin the team in a non-playing role.

  • Rams' Stedman Bailey: Running routes

Bailey (head), who finished the 2015 season on the Rams' reserve/non-football injury list, posted a video of himself on Tuesday running routes, ESPN.com reports.

While it is encouraging to see Bailey, who was shot twice in the head on Nov. 24, progress to the point that he is able to run routes, the 25-year-old's football future remains uncertain. With that in mind, coach Jeff Fisher noted last month that Bailey "is currently in the evaluation process, seeking numerous opinions from neurologists and the like...just to see if he can not only play but continue with a rigorous physical rehab program that will put him in position to play."

  • Rams' Stedman Bailey: Reinstated from suspension

Bailey (head) was reinstated from the suspended list Monday, Howard Balzer of reports.

Bailey is likely out for the season after he was shot in the head In Miami on Nov. 24, but the Rams have been granted a roster exemption while they determine the next course of action. More than likely, he'll land on the reserve/NFI list, which would all but ensure that he doesn't play again in 2015.

  • Rams' Stedman Bailey: Improving but still in intensive care

Bailey (head) is slowly making progress but is still in intensive care after being shot in the head Nov. 24, Joe Lyons of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

It looks like Bailey is at least out of the woods, although it took six hours of surgery and a medically induced coma. It's going to be a long recovery for Bailey, and his career is certainly in jeopardy after such a scary event.
