  • Zac Dysert: Non-tendered by Cowboys

The Cowboys didn't tender Dysert (back) a contract for the 2018 season Wednesday, making him an unrestricted free agent, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Dysert spent the entire 2017 campaign on injured reserve due to a back issue. It's possible the Cowboys could re-sign Dysert later this offseason and bring him to training camp as a depth quarterback, but he'll be free to sign with any team now that he's back on the open market.

  • Cowboys' Zac Dysert: Heads to IR

Dysert (back) cleared waivers and was reverted to injured reserve on Tuesday.

This back injury was going to keep Dysert out for the remainder of the season, so it's no surprise that he was waived/injured almost immediately. Expect him to be in the hunt for a backup or practice squad role once he finishes his recovery.

  • Zac Dysert: Waived by Cowboys

Dysert (back) was waived by the Cowbodys on Saturday, Kate Hairopoulos of SportsDay.com reports.

Dysert was an extreme long shot to see any snaps this season anyways, and his back injury only reiterated that fact. He will be out for the rest of the season, so he'll have to wait until after the season to be picked up by another franchise.

  • Cowboys' Zac Dysert: Out for season with herniated disc

Dysert is likely to miss the entire season after undergoing surgery to fix a herniated disc in his back, NFL.com's Ian Rapoport reports.

Dysert previously was expected to compete with Cooper Rush for the No. 3 quarterback job on a team that may only carry two signal callers on its final roster. Dysert has yet to appear in a regular-season game since being selected in the seventh round of the 2013 draft.

  • Cowboys' Zac Dysert: Claimed by Cowboys

Dysert was claimed off waivers by the Cowboys on Monday, The Dallas Morning News reports.

The seventh-round pick in 2013 was released by the Cardinals last week but didn't stay unemployed for long. Dysert has yet to play a regular-season game in the NFL and will provide some depth for Dallas behind Dak Prescott.

  • Zac Dysert: Cut by Cardinals

Dysert was released by the Cardinals on Friday, Darren Urban of the team's official site reports.

Dysert spent most of the 2016 season on the Cardinals' practice squad before being elevated to the 53-man roster in December. He was re-signed as an exclusive-rights free agent in March, but Arizona later brought in Blaine Gabbert and Trevor Knight to join the quarterbacks room as well. After a month of side-by-side evaluation between the three quarterbacks alongside incumbent No. 2 QB Drew Stanton, it seems Arizona management honed in on Dysert as the odd man out in an effort to begin trimming the roster down to the required 90 players.
