Jets' Tyler Johnson: Only WR to catch pass from Fields
Johnson caught both of his targets for 27 yards in Saturday's 30-10 preseason win over the Packers.
Johnson was the only wide receiver to catch a pass from starting quarterback Justin Fields, who played one drive. The veteran wide receiver added a 21-yard catch from rookie quarterback Brady Cook on the last play of the first quarter. Johnson looks like a lock to make the 53-man roster after impressing the coaching staff in training camp, and there's still time for him to make a case for a starting role.

Jets' Tyler Johnson: Listed as backup on depth chart
Johnson is listed as a reserve on the unofficial depth chart the Jets released Sunday.
Garrett Wilson, Josh Reynolds and Allen Lazard are listed as starters, with Johnson behind Reynolds on the depth chart. Lazard's placement on the depth chart suggests he could be utilized in the slot, with Johnson as a reserve on the outside. Earlier reports from Jets beat writers in training camp suggested that Johnson has been outplaying Lazard.

Jets' Tyler Johnson: Leading candidate for WR3 role?
Johnson appears to be the frontrunner for the third spot on the Jets' wide receiver depth chart, Zack Rosenblatt of The Athletic reports.
Johnson has impressed the coaching staff with his athleticism and ability to get open by anticipating defensive backs' moves. The veteran wide receiver signed a one-year contract with the Jets in March without much fanfare, but he's putting himself in position to get playing time alongside Garrett Wilson and Josh Reynolds. Other receivers vying for roster spots include Arian Smith, Allen Lazard, Malachi Corley, Xavier Gipson and Jamaal Pritchett.

Jets' Tyler Johnson: Signed by Gang Green
The Jets signed Johnson to a one-year contract Saturday, Al Iannazzone of Newsday reports.
Johnson saw modest numbers as a backup with the Rams in 2024, finishing with 26 catches (on 41 targets) for 291 yards and one touchdown across 15 regular-season games. However, he was not active for the Rams' two playoff games, and he'll look to get more involved in the Jets' passing attack alongside Garrett Wilson.

Rams' Tyler Johnson: Modest numbers as a backup
Johnson caught 26 passes for 291 yards and a touchdown during the 2024 regular season.
Given the Rams' injury woes for much of the season, Johnson's second season with the team bore more fruit, as he was on the field for 345 snaps on offense and held his own when pressed into significant action, including a 5-79-0 line in the Week 1 opener against the Lions. The Rams have a lot of questions in the offseason at wide receiver, with Cooper Kupp a candidate for trade or release and Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell and Johnson all unrestricted free agents, but Johnson's budding role may entice the Rams to give him another shot to work alongside Puka Nacua, Jordan Whittington and Xavier Smith.

Rams' Tyler Johnson: Healthy scratch in divisional round
Johnson (coach's decision) is inactive for Sunday's NFC divisional-round game against the Eagles.
Johnson was also a healthy scratch for Monday's 27-9 wild-card win over the Vikings. The 2020 fifth-round pick saw significant playing time earlier in the year when wideouts Cooper Kupp and Puka Nacua were injured. But, he caught just five passes over the final eight weeks of the regular season, and four of these receptions came in the regular-season finale when the Rams rested Kupp and Nacua. With Johnson sidelined, Nacua, Kupp, Demarcus Robinson, Tutu Atwell, Jordan Whittington and Xavier Smith will serve as the active wideouts for Los Angeles on Sunday.

Rams' Tyler Johnson: Not playing in wild-card round
Johnson (coach's decision) is inactive for Monday's NFC wild-card game against the Vikings, Cameron DaSilva of USA Today reports.
Johnson tied a season high with 49 offensive snap during the Rams' regular-season finale against the Seahawks due to both Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp being sidelined for rest purposes, and Johnson finished the game with four catches (on seven targets) for 35 yards and one touchdown. Johnson will observe Monday's game in street clothes, though he could be active for the Rams' divisional-round game if they beat the Vikings.
