Josh Sitton: Retiring from NFL
Sitton (shoulder) announced Thursday that he is retiring from the NFL, Wes Hodkiewicz of the Packers' official site reports.
Sitton was a symbol of durability and toughness during his eight-year stint with the Packers in which the three-time All-Pro completed a 16-game season six times. After finishing his career with two years in Chicago and one in Miami, Sittin will retire having started in 142 of the 148 games he appeared in with a Super Bowl XLV ring in hand.

Josh Sitton: Fails physical
Sitton (shoulder) was released by the Dolphins on Thursday with a failed physical designation, freelance NFL writer Howard Balzer reports.
Sitton,who played only one game in 2018 before landing on injured reserve due to a torn rotator cuff, has started only 26 of a possible 48 games over the last three seasons. The Dolphins will save a reported $5 million in cap space, and Sitton is likely to land with the Jets following his release, per Cameron Wolfe of ESPN.com.

Sitton played only one game in 2018 before landing on injured reserve due to a torn rotator cuff and has started in only 26 of a possible 48 games over the last three seasons. The Dolphins determine the extra cap flexibility was preferable to paying the 32-year-old guard a $7 million salary in 2019.

A turbulent offseason is expected in Miami, with a host of new front office changes prompting a roster overhaul for a team that finished the 2018 with a 7-9 record. Sitton, who landed on injured reserve in September thanks to a shoulder injury, is scheduled to count $7 million against the salary cap and has started just 26 of the possible 48 games in the past three seasons.

Sitton was already declared out for the season with a torn rotator cuff and is set to undergo surgery in the near future to address the issue. Ted Larsen will step in at left guard for the Dolphins.

Sitton (shoulder) was a non-participant in Wednesday's practice, Adam H. Beasley of the Miami Herald reports.
Sitton suffered a shoulder injury in Sunday's season opener against the Titans and should be considered day-to-day until the injury's severity is disclosed. If Sitton is unable to suit up against the Jets on Sunday, Ted Larsen likely will draw the start at left guard.
