Giants' Mark Herzlich: Inks deal to stay in New York
Herzlich re-signed with the Giants on Monday, Dan Graziano of ESPN.com reports.
After missing just three games between 2012 and 2016, Herzlich spent all of last season on injured reserve due to a stinger. Barring any injuries to the starting linebackers, he figures to function as a backup this year with primary contributions on special teams.

Giants' Mark Herzlich: Recovered from neck injury
Herzlich (neck), who spent the entire 2017 season on injured reserve, has recovered from his season-ending neck injury, Dan Duggan of NJ Advance Media reports.
Herzlich, who suffered a stinger during the second week of training camp, said he felt healthy as soon as Week 4 and was simply never activated off IR. The veteran linebacker will be an unrestricted free agent this offseason but has stated his desire to return to the Giants.

Giants' Mark Herzlich: On injured reserve
Herzlich (neck) was placed on injured reserve by the Giants on Saturday, Ralph Vacchiano of SportsNet New York reports.
Herzlich has been out for the majority of camp after suffering a stinger injury in early August. The move would be season-ending for the 30-year-old, and also puts a question mark on the remainder of his career.

Giants' Mark Herzlich: Sits out with stinger
Herzlich (neck) did not participate in Tuesday's practice.
After only playing 15 defensive snaps in 14 games last season, Herzlich has been battling for a share of the snaps with Devon Kennard. If he cannot prove himself, though, he'll likely return to being a specialist.

Giants' Mark Herzlich: Learning offense to help with depth
Herzlich is learning the Giants' offense to help with depth at tight end, NJ.com's Dan Duggan reports.
At 6-foot-4, 246 pounds, Herzlich is the rare NFL linebacker who possesses adequate size to contribute as a blocking tight end. He's mostly contributed on special teams since signing with the Giants as an undrafted free agent in 2011, and while that doesn't figure to change anytime soon, the added versatility should at least help his odds of sticking on the final roster for another year or two. The Giants presumably hope second-round rookie Evan Engram will earn the starting job at tight end.
