Chad Henne won the backup QB job in Kansas City, so Moore's future is uncertain. The 36-year-old quarterback was pivotal in keeping the Chiefs afloat last season after Patrick Mahomes suffered a dislocated kneecap, completing 65.6 percent of his passes for 659 yards and four touchdowns over three games with Mahomes on the sidelines. He's a formidable backup at this point, so he could have options in free agency.

Chiefs' Matt Moore: Doesn't win backup role
Moore is expected to begin the 2020 season as the Chiefs' No. 3 quarterback, Sam McDowell of The Kansas City Star reports.
Moore arrived in Kansas City late last preseason when nominal backup Chad Henne suffered a severe ankle injury. After Patrick Mahomes sustained a dislocated kneecap Week 7, Moore directed the offense for most of that game and two others, completing 65.6 percent of his passes for 659 yards, four touchdowns and no interceptions. With Henne back to health, coach Andy Reid named him the No. 2 QB on Sunday, leaving Moore or potentially Jordan Ta'amu as the third option on the depth chart in the coming campaign.

Moore is signing a one-year contract with the Chiefs, Terez A. Paylor of Yahoo Sports reports.
Moore kept the Chiefs afloat when Patrick Mahomes missed two and a half games in the middle of last season, completing 65.6 percent of his passes for 7.3 YPA while tossing four touchdowns and no interceptions. The Chiefs also re-signed Chad Henne, who suffered an ankle fracture last August but could now retake the backup job in 2020. The two veterans figure to duke it out in training camp.

Chiefs' Matt Moore: Solid as backup in 2019
Moore completed 59 of 91 pass attempts for 659 yards and four touchdowns in six appearances -- including two starts -- in the 2019 regular season. He didn't play a snap during the postseason.
Moore led Kansas City's offense on three occasions while Patrick Mahomes was sidelined with a dislocated kneecap, and he did enough to carve out two wins during that span while logging a 4:0 TD:INT ratio. Given his success when called upon as a backup last season, the Chiefs may be inclined to pursue another contract to keep the 35-year-old signal-caller around for 2020.
