Captain Munnerlyn: Short stay in Buffalo
Munnerlyn was cut by Buffalo on Saturday, Chris Brown of the Bills' official site reports.
Munnerlyn has experience with the current Buffalo brass dating back to his Carolina days, but the team decided to go with younger players that offer more versatility.

Bills' Captain Munnerlyn: Signs with Buffalo
Munnerlyn has been signed by the Bills.
The Bills were forced to put veteran corner EJ Gaines on injured reserve Saturday, so team brass -- a good majority of the coaching and management staff has ties to the Carolina organization -- felt most comfortable signing a familiar face in Munnerlyn to take the roster spot. Munnerlyn has spent seven of his 10 NFL seasons with the Panthers, but now he'll join fellow Panthers veteran Kurt Coleman to try and round out some depth in the Buffalo secondary this season.

Captain Munnerlyn: Cut loose as part of youth movement
The Panthers are releasing Munnerlyn, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reports.
Munnerlyn has made 85 starts in 154 career games with the Vikings and Panthers, primarily manning the slot in nickel formations the past four seasons. He'll turn 31 in April and won't be mistaken for a dominant coverage man, but his track record of competence in a difficult role should be enough to draw interest from multiple teams. The Panthers are also parting ways with 37-year-old safety Mike Adams, attempting to get younger and faster in the secondary after they allowed 32 passing touchdowns and 7.7 yards per attempt in 2018.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Plays whole season
Munnerlyn finished the 2018 regular season with 47 tackles (38 solo), two sacks, one fumble recovery and one interception on nine passes defended in 16 games played.
Munnerlyn played his first full campaign since 2015, starting five contests along the way. After just 29 stops last season, the veteran was closer to his career average of just over 50 this time around. Additionally, James Bradberry was the only Panther that topped his nine pass breakups. With two years remaining on his contract, he'll aim to keep his nickel position in 2019.

Munnerlyn (knee) was a full participant in Thursday's practice.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: No practice Wednesday
Munnerlyn (knee) did not practice Wednesday, Steve Reed of the Associated Press reports.
Munnerlyn appears to have suffered a knee injury during Monday's loss to the Saints, and sat out the Panthers' first practice of the week. If the 10-year veteran is unable to get healthy in time for Sunday's tilt against the Falcons, expect Lorenzo Doss to see a slight uptick in snaps.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Suffers hamstring sprain
Munnerlyn suffered a hamstring strain during Sunday's 36-21 win over the Ravens, Joe Person of The Athletic reports.
Munnerlyn exited Sunday's contest due to a hamstring injury, but Person also reports that Munnerlyn anticipates suiting up against the Buccaneers in Week 9 without issue. The 30-year-old veteran will serve as a rotational cornerback in Carolina's defense if he's able to suit up.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Step back in 2017
Munnerlyn totaled 29 tackles (24 solo) and two sacks in 14 games with the Panthers in 2017.
Munnerlyn signed a four-year contract with the Panthers in March 2017, and subsequently posted the lowest tackle total of his career and failed to record an interception. The 29-year-old is the veteran presence in a group of young Carolina cornerbacks, but this season proved to be the worst statistical season of his nine-year career.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Sitting out Sunday
Munnerlyn (coach's decision) is listed as inactive for Sunday's game against the Packers, Joe Person of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Munnerlyn walked out of practice Wednesday, so even though he participated both Thursday and Friday, head coach Ron Rivera saw it fitting to bench his rotational corner. The 29-year-old's absence will open the door for Kevon Seymour and Ladarius Gunter to log extended workloads Sunday.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Expected back in Week 13
Munnerlyn (illness) is expected to be available for the Panthers' Week 13 game against the Saints, David Newton of ESPN.com reports.
Munnerlyn was inactive for Sunday's win over the Jets while recovering from a virus, but it appears his condition has already dramatically improved just one day later. Assuming he suffers no recurrence of the symptoms during the week, he should settle back in as the Panthers' nickelback.

Panthers' Captain Munnerlyn: Downgraded to out
The Panthers have downgraded Munnerlyn (illness) from questionable to out for Sunday's game against the Jets, Jourdan Rodrigue of The Charlotte Observer reports.
Munnerlyn's illness is said to be contagious, so he is currently away from the team. Coach Ron Rivera would not say which backup option will replace him in the starting lineup, but Kevin Seymour and LaDarius Gunter both have previous experience in the nickel.
