  • Hornets' Hannes Steinbach: Drops 22 points in SL loss

Steinbach supplied 22 points (7-10 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 3-6 FT), 11 rebounds and one steal across 29 minutes in Friday's 92-90 Summer League loss to the Kings.

Steinbach turned in an efficient performance from the field in Charlotte's Summer League finale, leading all players in scoring. The big man also grabbed a game-high-tying 11 rebounds. He finished Summer League action with back-to-back 20-point double-doubles and will now look toward his rookie campaign with the Hornets. The Washington product could see meaningful run early in his career but will have to compete for minutes with Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner.

  • Hornets' Hannes Steinbach: Big double-double in SL loss

Steinbach totaled 27 points (13-22 FG, 1-2 FT), 15 rebounds, three assists and one steal over 27 minutes in Wednesday's 110-91 Summer League loss to the Bucks.

Steinbach dominated despite the loss, leading all players in points and rebounds. Seven of the big man's 15 rebounds came on the offensive glass. The No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft has shown some flashes through four Summer League appearances and figures to compete with Ryan Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabate for minutes at center during the regular season.

  • Hornets' Hannes Steinbach: Modest production in SL loss

Steinbach totaled seven points (2-5 FG, 2-2 FT), six rebounds and one block across 22 minutes in Saturday's 95-91 Summer League loss to the Pelicans.

After posting a double-double with a full stat line in his Summer League debut Thursday, Steinbach had a quieter outing Saturday while once again coming off the bench. The No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft figures to compete for minutes at center with Ryan Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabate.

  • Hornets' Hannes Steinbach: Double-double in SL win

Steinbach registered 15 points (4-7 FG, 4-4 FT), 11 rebounds, two assists, two blocks and one steal across 22 minutes in Thursday's 86-74 Summer League win over the Magic.

Coming off the bench, Steinbach delivered a full stat line, highlighted by a game-high 11 rebounds as part of a double-double effort. The Hornets have some intriguing young frontcourt pieces, with Ryan Kalkbrenner and Moussa Diabate both flashing potential at center last season, but given his pedigree as the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft, Steinbach figures to compete for minutes early in the regular season.

  • Hornets' Hannes Steinbach: Selected by Charlotte

Steinbach was selected by the Hornets with the No. 14 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

Steinbach played professionally in Germany before heading to Washington for his lone college season. Over 30 appearances for the Huskies, the 20-year-old big man averaged 18.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 1.6 assists, 1.2 blocks and 1.1 steals while shooting 57.7 percent from the field and 34.0 percent from downtown in 34.6 minutes per contest. Steinbach will now join a team that has the potential to make waves in the Eastern Conference in 2026-27. With that in mind, the 20-year-old may not have an opportunity to start for the Hornets initially, as Moussa Diabate and Ryan Kalkbrenner return after showing flashes last season. However, Steinbach could earn meaningful minutes immediately, considering the club doesn't have many reliable options off the bench.
