  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Not playing Saturday

Gilgeous-Alexander is not in the starting lineup for Saturday's preseason game against the Pacers due to rest-related reasons. The 2025 NBA MVP won't play Saturday due to rest, as the Thunder aren't likely to push him too much with the regular season right around the corner. Gilgeous-Alexander's next chance to play will come against the Bucks on Tuesday in the Thunder's penultimate preseason tune-up before Opening Night on Oct. 21 against the Rockets.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Posts 16 points in preseason win

Gilgeous-Alexander produced 16 points (7-9 FG, 2-2 3Pt), five assists, one rebound, one steal and one blocked shot in 20 minutes during Thursday's 122-116 preseason win over the Hornets. The 2024-25 NBA MVP wasted no time getting involved Thursday, finishing up with an accurate night from the floor. Paycom Center was packed to the gills to witness the team's home premiere, but Gilgeous-Alexander was one of only three first-string stars to appear. Chet Holmgren (shoulder) and Jalen Williams (wrist) may take most of the preseason off. Gilgeous-Alexander may not have his team at full strength to begin the season, but Alex Caruso will be an apt fill-in if Williams sits.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Will play Thursday

Gilgeous-Alexander (rest) will play in Thursday's preseason game against the Hornets, Rylan Stiles of SI.com reports. After missing the first two preseason games for his squad, Gilgeous-Alexander will return to the floor. Like most locked-in starters around the league, the reigning NBA MVP will likely play limited minutes during this game and for the rest of the preseason.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Ruled out for Monday

Gilgeous-Alexander (rest) will remain on the sidelines for Monday's preseason matinee against the Mavericks, Nick Gallo of the Thunder's official site reports. Oklahoma City's MVP has yet to make his preseason debut, but that's nothing out of the norm for a superstar early in the preseason. Perhaps he'll get out there for Thursday's game against the Hornets. Isaiah Joe and Cason Wallace figure to see a lot of shots falling their way with SGA unavailable.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Won't play Sunday

Gilgeous-Alexander (rest) won't play in Sunday's preseason game against the Hornets, Nick Gallo of the Thunder's official site reports. Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, Luguentz Dort, Cason Wallace, Alex Caruso, Isaiah Hartenstein and Ajay Mitchell (ankle) will all take a seat for the first half of a back-to-back preseason set for the Thunder. SGA's next chance to suit up will come Monday in Dallas.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Inks contract extension with OKC

Gilgeous-Alexander agreed to terms on a four-year, $285 million contract extension with the Thunder on Tuesday, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Gilgeous-Alexander is coming off an incredible season in which he won his first NBA MVP award and his first NBA title. The superstar guard is now under contract with Oklahoma City through the 2030-31 season and will make the richest annual salary for a player in league history. During the 2024-25 regular season, the Kentucky product averaged career-high numbers in points (32.7), assists (6.4) and blocks (1.0) while shooting a remarkable 51.9 percent from the floor and 37.5 percent from beyond the arc over 76 games.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Dominant in Game 7 win

Gilgeous-Alexander closed Sunday's 103-91 victory over the Pacers in Game 7 of the NBA Finals with 29 points (8-27 FG, 2-12 3Pt, 11-12 FT), five rebounds, 12 assists, two blocks and one steal across 40 minutes. Gilgeous-Alexander capped off a historic season in style Sunday. Named as the 2025 NBA Finals MVP, Gilgeous-Alexander was also the MVP of the regular season while helping the Thunder win 68 games. As for fantasy, only Nikola Jokic was more valuable from a per-game perspective in nine-category formats. Through 76 regular-season appearances, he produced 32.7 points, 6.4 assists, 5.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, 1.7 steals and 2.1 three-pointers on 51.9 percent shooting from the field and 89.8 percent from the line.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Steps up late in clutch win

Gilgeous-Alexander finished Friday's 111-104 win over the Pacers in Game 4 of the NBA Finals with 35 points (12-24 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 10-10 FT), three rebounds, one block and three steals across 40 minutes. Gilgeous-Alexander had a rough showing during the first three quarters, but he stepped up late in the fourth when the Thunder needed him the most and scored 15 of his 35 points in the final frame. Late heroics aside, his scoring contributions were key for Oklahoma City, and the fact that he went 10-for-10 from the charity stripe was also decisive. The star floor general has scored 34 or more points in three of his four games in the Finals, and he'll look to deliver another dominant performance in Game 5 on Monday as the series returns to Oklahoma City.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Tough showing in Game 3

Gilgeous-Alexander supplied 24 points (9-20 FG, 1-3 3Pt, 5-6 FT), eight rebounds, four assists and three blocks in 42 minutes during Wednesday's 116-107 loss to the Pacers in Game 3 of the NBA Finals. By Gilgeous-Alexander's standards, he clearly had an off night. He had a lot of struggles on the defensive end in Game 3, and he couldn't generate much offense when it mattered the most -- he was held to three points on 33.3 percent shooting in the fourth quarter. Game 4 is set for Friday in Indiana with the Thunder trailing 2-1.

Gilgeous-Alexander led the charge for the Thunder in his NBA Finals debut, but it wasn't enough to prevent a stunning fourth-quarter comeback by Indiana to steal Game 1. Despite the loss, the 26-year-old continued his impressive production in the scoring department, as he's now put up 34 or more points in three straight postseason appearances.

The 2024-25 NBA MVP delivered an impressive performance over five matchups with the Timberwolves and was named series MVP. The 26-year-old averaged 31.4 points, 8.2 assists, 5.2 rebounds and 1.8 steals across 36.4 minutes per game during the series.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: 40-point performance fuels victory

Gilgeous-Alexander ended Monday's 128-126 victory over Minnesota in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals with 40 points (13-30 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 12-14 FT), nine rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in 40 minutes. Gilgeous-Alexander scored a career playoff-high 40 points, pushing the Thunder to within one win of wrapping up the Western Conference Finals. Following a 14-point effort in Saturday's heavy loss, the newly-crowned MVP fell just one rebound short of a triple-double. He now has at least 30 points in six of the past seven games and has consistently proven himself on the biggest stage. The series will now shift back to Oklahoma City, where the Thunder will look to wrap things up.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Bounces back in Game 4

Gilgeous-Alexander totaled 40 points (13-30 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 12-14 FT), nine rebounds, 10 assists and one steal in 40 minutes during Monday's 128-126 victory over the Timberwolves in Game 4 of the Western Conference Finals. Gilgeous-Alexander managed to redeem himself following a sluggish 14-point showing in Saturday's blowout loss. The 2024-25 MVP made clutch shots down the stretch to keep his squad in front, which included several free throws in the final minute of play. He also dished out double-digit assists for the first time this postseason and fell one board shy of a triple-double. Gilgeous-Alexander and Jalen Williams accounted for 74 of the team's 128 points in a statement win by the Thunder.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Disappears in Game 3 defeat

Gilgeous-Alexander ended Saturday's 143-101 loss to Minnesota in Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals with 14 points (4-13 FG, 2-5 3Pt, 4-4 FT), two rebounds, six assists and one block over 28 minutes. While it would be a stretch to say Gilgeous-Alexander was the one to blame for the team's overall struggles in this blowout loss, the just-named MVP never got it going Saturday. There have been a few instances in which Gilgeous-Alexander has struggled during the playoffs, and when that happens, he tends to bounce back relatively quickly. That means he'll aim to turn things around in Game 4 of the series Monday. This performance snapped a streak of five consecutive outings with at least 31 points, and it was also his worst scoring output in the current postseason run.

Gilgeous-Alexander chipped in 38 points (12-21 FG, 1-2 3Pt, 13-15 FT), three rebounds, eight assists and three steals over 42 minutes during Thursday's 118-103 win over the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. Fresh off being named this year's Most Valuable Player, Gilgeous-Alexander went to work, dismantling the Timberwolves in Game 2 of the Western Conference Finals. It marks his fifth straight game with at least 30 points, with his last three games being blowout victories. Oklahoma City is now just two wins away from reaching the NBA Finals, an achievement that seems somewhat fitting given its dominant season.

  • Thunder's Shai Gilgeous-Alexander: Game-high 32 points not enough

Gilgeous-Alexander closed with 32 points (11-16 FG, 2-4 3Pt, 8-11 FT), three rebounds and six assists across 35 minutes during Thursday's 119-107 loss to the Nuggets in Game 6 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Gilgeous-Alexander tallied a game-high 32 points, scoring at least 30 points for the fourth time in the series. However, his production was not enough as the Thunder ran out of steam late, handing the victory to Denver. Gilgeous-Alexander appeared to injure his hand early in the game, but it didn't slow him down on the offensive end. The two teams will meet one more time with everything on the line, with Gilgeous-Alexander likely to be leading the charge for Oklahoma City.
