Reese was part of the starting lineup and played 39 minutes in Sunday's 123-88 loss to Portland, but he'll be held out of Monday's contest as the Wizards aim to preserve his eligibility for the remainder of the season. While he remains signed to a two-way deal, Reese will be able to play in six of the Wizards' remaining seven games after Monday.

After Reese delivered an impressive line (26 points, 17 rebounds, one block and one steal in 30 minutes) during a spot start in a 133-110 win over the Jazz on Wednesday, the Wizards will opt to keep the rookie big man inactive Friday with Alex Sarr (toe) and Tristan Vukcevic (back) returning from two- and one-game absences, respectively. Due to the timing of his signing a two-way deal with the Wizards, Reese is eligible to suit up for just 13 games at the NBA level. Since he's already been active for six games, Reese will be able to play in seven of the Wizards' remaining nine contests after Friday.

Wizards' Julian Reese: Turns in 26-17 game in spot start
Reese generated 26 points (12-16 FG, 2-4 FT), 17 rebounds, one steal and one block across 30 minutes Wednesday in the Wizards' 133-110 win over the Jazz.
Suiting up for just the second time in nine games, Reese moved into the starting five and took on major minutes as the Wizards' top center while Alex Sarr (toe) and Tristan Vukcevic (back) were unavailable. Reese proceeded to have his way in the paint against a Jazz squad that didn't start a traditional center, establishing a new career high in scoring while falling three boards shy from matching the personal-best total he had recorded in his third NBA game back on March 5, which also came against Utah. Though Reese is now averaging 12.0 points and 10.7 rebounds in 29.7 minutes per game while shooting 65.1 percent from the field through six appearances with the Wizards, his limited availability as a two-way player makes it difficult to justify rostering him. Unless Washington converts him to a standard contract, Reese will be eligible to play in seven of the Wizards' remaining 10 games.

Reese's performances have been trending in the right direction. He came close to posting a double-double in the loss to the Magic on March 3, finishing with nine points and eight rebounds, but he bested those numbers by a massive margin in this loss. It's been only three appearances, but Reese is making a strong case to remain with the Wizards after signing a two-way deal Feb. 28, especially considering the lack of depth the Wizards have in the frontcourt right now.

Reese appeared in 24 regular-season games (two starts) with the G League's Raptors 905 before landing a two-way deal with the Wizards. He averaged 8.6 points, 7.8 rebounds, 1.1 assists, 0.8 steals and 0.8 blocks over 17.5 minutes per game with Raptors 905. The Maryland product has yet to see NBA-level action but could be available for the Wizards as soon as Tuesday against the Magic, per Josh Robbins of The Athletic.

An undrafted free agent, Reese played four seasons at the University of Maryland. The Raptors are likely looking to fill out their G League roster, so Reese will probably be waived so he can join the Raptors 905.
