Xavier Cooks: Waived by Washington
Cooks was waived by the Wizards on Monday, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
Cooks saw considerable playing time during Summer League action this year but will be let go shortly before the start of the regular season. He averaged 3.8 points and 3.8 rebounds in 12.6 minutes per game over 10 appearances with the Wizards last year, and it's possible he finds work in the G League during the 2023-24 campaign.

Wizards' Xavier Cooks: Out Saturday
Cooks will miss Saturday's Summer League game against the Bulls for an undisclosed reason, Josh Robbins of The Athletic reports.
After seeing plenty of action in Summer League, Cooks will sit out the team's final game as the Wizards look to give more opportunities to other players. Though Cooks' played a big role with Washington during the final week of the 2022-23 regular season, he'll likely retreat to a reserve role for the upcoming campaign.

Wizards' Xavier Cooks: Double-doubles in loss
Cooks tallied 16 points (7-10 FG, 2-4 FT), 10 rebounds, three blocks and two assists in 21 minutes during Tuesday's 96-85 Summer League loss to the Spurs.
Cooks played 10 games for the Wizards in 2022-23 and started in one. While he is unlikely to receive significant minutes in the NBA in 2023-24, he should continue to feature highly in Washington's Summer League squad.

Wizards' Xavier Cooks: Double-double in finale
Cooks accumulated 10 points (5-11 FG, 0-2 FT), 14 rebounds, two blocks and two steals in 38 minutes during Sunday's 114-109 loss to Houston.
Getting his first career NBA start, the 27-year-old NBL veteran delivered his first double-double for a depleted Wizards roster. Cooks is coming off an MVP campaign in Australia, but unless Kristaps Porzingis heads elsewhere this summer, he's unlikely to fill more than a depth role in the Washington frontcourt next season.

Wizards' Xavier Cooks: Starting Sunday
Cooks will move into the first unit for Sunday's regular-season finale versus Houston, Jonathan Feigen of the Houston Chronicle reports.
Joining Cooks in the first unit for Sunday's game will be Corey Kispert, Isaiah Todd, Johnny Davis and Jordan Goodwin. Cooks figures to see major minutes Sunday with Kristaps Porzingis (illness), Jay Huff (G League) and Daniel Gafford (ankle) all unavailable for the regular-season finale, so he could be worth a dice roll in daily fantasy leagues.

Wizards' Xavier Cooks: Sniffs double-double
Cooks chipped in 10 points (4-5 FG, 0-1 3Pt, 2-6 FT), nine rebounds and three steals in 22 minutes during Friday's 114-108 victory over Miami.
Cooks came off the bench but was highly efficient overall, ending just one rebound away from a double-double and missing just one shot from the field. The Wizards should rest most of their starters in the regular-season finale Sunday against the Rockets, so Cooks should play a decent role in that contest as well.
