  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Re-ups with Rockets

Tate (ankle) agreed to a one-year, $3 million contract with the Rockets on Monday, Michael Scotto of USA Today reports. Tate and the Rockets were expected to work out a deal to keep the 29-year-old forward in Houston, and the details of the contract are now known. Tate appeared in 52 games, including the postseason, with Houston last season, averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds across 11.3 minutes. Expect Tate to battle for a rotation spot off the bench in 2025-26.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Expected to re-sign with Houston

The Rockets intend to bring back Tate (ankle) on a new contract, Shams Charania of ESPN reports. Tate played in 52 games for Houston during the 2024-25 regular-season campaign. Even though he saw a decrease in playing time this past season, the 29-year-old could see a bump in minutes after the team acquired Kevin Durant and parted ways with Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks. Tate averaged a career-low 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds across 11.3 minutes per game last year over those 52 regular-season games.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Won't play in Game 7

Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for Game 7 of the first round of the Western Conference playoffs against the Warriors on Sunday. Tate will end up being sidelined for a ninth consecutive game (including the regular season) due to a right ankle impingement. There doesn't appear to be any timeline for his return, so he may not be available for the second round of the Western Conference playoffs if the Rockets win Sunday.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: No timetable for return

Tate (ankle) isn't close to returning to action and doesn't have a timetable to step back into the hardwood, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. Tate has yet to play in the postseason, and it seems the forward isn't particularly close to returning from a right ankle injury. He might not be available to return during the series against the Warriors, and it's uncertain when he'll be able to play. However, Tate isn't expected to have a lot of fantasy upside even if deemed fit.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Another absence coming

Tate (ankle) won't play in Saturday's Game 3 against the Warriors. Tate is set to miss his fifth straight contest Saturday due to a right ankle injury. Tate's next chance to suit up is Monday's Game 4 against Golden State.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Out for Game 2 vs. Warriors

Tate is out for Wednesday's Game 2 of the Western Conference quarterfinals against the Warriors due to a right ankle impingement. Head coach Ime Udoka labeled Tate week-to-week at the close of the regular season, and the veteran forward will remain sidelined Wednesday. His next chance to return to the floor comes Saturday for Game 3 back in Golden State. The Rockets should rely more on Jabari Smith and Tari Eason in the frontcourt until Tate is cleared to suit up again.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Won't play Game 1 vs. GSW

Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for Sunday's Game 1 against the Warriors, Vanessa Richardson of Space City Home Network reports. Tate is considered week-to-week with a right ankle injury that caused him to miss the final two games of the regular season. He'll continue to rehab through the injury, and his next chance to play will be Wednesday for Game 2 against Golden State. Tate averaged 11.3 minutes per game during the regular season, and that playing time should be absorbed by Tari Eason and Cam Whitmore.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Week-to-week with ankle injury

Head coach Ime Udoka told reporters Sunday that Tate is considered week-to-week due to right ankle soreness, Ben DuBose of USA Today reports. Tate will end up missing the last two games of the regular season due to his ankle injury. It remains to be seen whether he'll be ready for the start of the playoffs, though he's averaged only 11.3 minutes per game this season and has seen his minutes off the bench fluctuate since the beginning of March.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Out for season finale

Tate (ankle) is out for Sunday's game against the Nuggets. The Rockets have locked up the second seed in the Western Conference, but they'll feature all their regular starters in the final game of the season. However, Tate won't be able to suit up as he recovers from right ankle soreness. His absence won't affect many fantasy decisions, though. He's averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Ruled out for Friday

Tate (ankle) has been ruled out for Friday's game against the Lakers. Tate is the only notable name the Rockets have ruled out for Friday's showdown with the Lakers. However, Tate's absence won't make much of an impact from a fantasy perspective, as he's averaging 3.6 points and 2.3 rebounds per game this season.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Role evaporates Tuesday

Tate finished Tuesday's 115-102 loss to the Pacers with one rebound in two minutes. Tate barely touched the floor Tuesday, making a garbage-time appearance only. Although Tate has been able to carve out a somewhat meaningful role this season, his playing time is typically reliant on the health of others. Assuming the Rockets are largely healthy moving forward, don't expect to see Tate on the court outside of late-game situations when the result is without question.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Good to go against Milwaukee

Tate (back) is available for Tuesday's game against the Bucks. Tate was unable to play against the Jazz on Saturday due to back spasms. He went through pregame warmups without any setbacks, and he's done enough to be cleared to return Wednesday. He has averaged 3.1 points, 2.0 rebounds and 1.4 assists over 13.9 minutes per game since the beginning of February.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Questionable with back spasms

Tate (back) is questionable for Tuesday's game against the Bucks. After sitting out Saturday's game against the Jazz, Tate continues to deal with back spasms that leave his status in limbo for Tuesday. If the veteran forward needs to miss another contest, Jeff Green should act as the direct beneficiary of Tate's absence from a fantasy perspective after the former scored a season-high 16 points in 22 minutes Saturday.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Working through back spasms

Tate (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Jazz, Ben DuBose of USA Today reports. Tate played just seven minutes during Friday's 121-115 win over the Timberwolves, and it appears he may have tweaked his back in the process. His absence opens the door for a slight increase in playing time for Cam Whitmore and Reed Sheppard off the bench. Tate's next chance to play is Tuesday against the Bucks.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Retreating to bench Tuesday

Tate is not in the Rockets' starting lineup against the Nets on Tuesday, Lachard Binkley of SI.com reports. Tate started in Monday's 124-118 loss to the Knicks and finished with eight points, six assists, one rebound and one steal over 22 minutes. He'll retreat to the bench for Tuesday's contest while Aaron Holiday enters the Rockets' starting five.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Coming off bench

Tate will come off the bench for Monday's game against the Pistons. This is an expected move with Amen Thompson (calf) back from a one-game absence. Tate was disappointing in his fill-in start Saturday against Portland, finishing scoreless in 17 minutes with three rebounds, one assist and one block.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Starting against Portland

Tate will start Saturday's game against Portland, Danielle Lerner of the Houston Chronicle reports. The Rockets originally planned to start Jeff Green in Amen Thompson's (calf) place, but coach Ime Udoka pivoted once Deandre Ayton (back) was ruled out. Tate has played a minimal role all season and will be making his first start of the campaign.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Season-high 12 points

Tate accumulated 12 points (3-6 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 4-8 FT), four rebounds and one steal over 18 minutes during Thursday's 119-115 win over the Grizzlies. With Tari Eason (lower leg) and Jabari Smith (hand) sidelined, Tate has carved out a role off the bench, playing double-digit minutes in nine of Houston's last 10 games. However, during that stretch, the veteran forward has scored in double figures only twice, including his season-high 12 points Thursday.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Not listed on injury report

Tate (illness) isn't listed on the Rockets' injury report for Wednesday's game against the Mavericks. Tate was a late addition to the injury report before eventually being ruled out Sunday against the Heat due to an illness. However, it appears he's past the ailment and will return to action Wednesday. The veteran forward averaged 12.1 minutes per game across seven December appearances.

  • Rockets' Jae'Sean Tate: Won't play Sunday

Tate (illness) has been ruled out for Sunday's game against the Heat. Tate was a late addition to the injury report and will be sidelined for the first time since Dec. 14. Dillon Brooks (ankle) is available, so Amen Thompson will move to the bench, though the second-year wing could remain in an elevated role with Tate out.
