  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Hoping to rebound in 2026-27

Sabonis (knee) has a new pick-and-roll partner after the Kings chose Darius Acuff with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2026 NBA Draft.

With Russell Westbrook, an unrestricted free agent this offseason, seizing Sacramento's top spot at point guard a year ago, Sabonis saw a decrease in both usage and efficiency. The star big man averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 29.7 minutes per tilt, all his lowest marks since 2018-19, before undergoing season-ending knee surgery. Sacramento appears ready to go in a different direction at the point, which could work to Sabonis' benefit in 2026-27.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Undergoes season-ending surgery

Sabonis underwent season-ending knee surgery Wednesday to repair a torn left meniscus, Shams Charania of ESPN reports.

With the 12-44 Kings' season circling the drain, Sabonis elected to go under the knife after attempting play through the injury this season. The star big man averaged 15.8 points, 11.4 rebounds and 4.1 assists in 29.7 minutes per tilt across a career-low 19 games this year before going down. With Dylan Cardwell (ankle) now sidelined for the foreseeable future, rookie second-rounder Maxime Raynaud has a big opportunity to seize the lion's share of the center minutes going forward.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Won't play Monday

Sabonis (back) is out for Monday against the Pelicans.

Sabonis will be sidelined for a third straight game, but he continues to be listed as day-to-day. Presumably, the Kings are going to move forward with extreme caution. In the meantime, Maxime Raynaud and Dylan Cardwell are expected to hold down the fort at center.

  • Kings' Domantas Sabonis: Not playing Saturday

Sabonis (back) has been ruled out for Saturday's game against the Cavaliers.

Sabonis will miss both games of the Kings' back-to-back set while managing a lingering back injury, and his next chance to play is Monday against the Pelicans. Maxime Raynaud and rookie Dylan Cardwell will continue to operate in elevated roles for as long as Sabonis is sidelined.
