  • Orioles' Elvin Rodriguez: Sent to Norfolk

The Orioles optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Norfolk on Thursday. The move frees up a spot on the 26-man active roster for right-hander Rico Garcia, who was claimed off waivers from the Mets. Rodriguez was a waiver claim himself last month and gave up two runs over one inning in his lone appearance with the Orioles this season.

  • Orioles' Elvin Rodriguez: Up from minors

The Orioles recalled Rodriguez from Double-A Chesapeake on Tuesday. Rodriguez has thrown 2.2 innings of one-run ball with the Orioles' Triple-A affiliate since joining the organization in mid-July. He'll now join the big-league bullpen for the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader, though he will almost certainly be limited to low-leverage outings after turning in an 8.68 ERA in 18.2 innings with the Brewers. Yaramil Hiraldo was optioned to Double-A in a corresponding move.

  • Orioles' Elvin Rodriguez: Scooped up by Orioles on waivers

The Orioles claimed Rodriguez off waivers from the Brewers on Wednesday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. After spending a chunk of 2023 and all of 2024 pitching in Japan, Rodriguez has yielded 18 runs with a 17:7 K:BB over 18.2 frames at the major-league level in 2025. He will report to Triple-A Norfolk, where he will give the Orioles some swingman depth.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Removed from 40-man roster

The Brewers designated Rodriguez for assignment Wednesday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The transaction clears a spot on the 40-man roster for outfielder Steward Berroa (shoulder), who was acquired via trade from the Dodgers. Rodriguez has made two starts and four relief appearances for the Brewers this season, allowing 18 runs with a 17:7 K:BB over 18.2 frames.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Heading back to Triple-A

Milwaukee optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday. After giving up six earned runs in 3.1 innings of long relief in Wednesday's 9-1 loss to the Astros, Rodriguez was unlikely to be available out of the bullpen for the next few days, so Milwaukee will remove him from the 26-man active roster. Expect the team to call up another reliever from Triple-A in advance of Friday's series opener at Tampa Bay.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Back up with big-league club

The Brewers recalled Rodriguez from Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. Rodriguez struggled in a stint earlier this season with Milwaukee, posting a 7.53 ERA and 1.40 WHIP over 14.1 innings, though his 13:2 K:BB was more promising. The righty's biggest problem was the long ball -- he served up six homers during that four-game span. Rodriguez worked twice as a starter and twice out of the bullpen while previously up with the the big club, with his final outing being a five-inning showing in relief. He figures to serve in a swingman role now that he's back with Milwaukee. Craig Yoho was optioned to Nashville on Saturday to make room for Rodriguez on the roster.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Saves bullpen in blowout loss

Rodriguez struck out seven and allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks over five innings of relief during Monday's 9-1 loss to the Tigers. After yielding 11 earned runs over nine innings in his first two starts of the season, Rodriguez was moved to the bullpen late last week when Jose Quintana was called up from Triple-A Nashville. Rodriguez made a one-out appearance last Thursday in Colorado but was called upon for an extended piggyback outing behind starter Tyler Alexander on Monday after the latter pitcher was lit up for eight runs (four earned) through the first four innings. Per Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com, Rodriguez made use of a new pitch mix in Monday's appearance, scrapping the fastball-heavy approach he used in his first two starts and instead throwing sweepers and curveballs on 40 of his 68 pitches on the night. The adjusted pitch mix yielded strong results, but Rodriguez is unlikely to be reappointed to the rotation anytime soon, especially with Tobias Myers (oblique) on track to return from the injured list next week and Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) not being far behind him.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Moves to bullpen

Rodriguez worked in relief in Thursday's 7-2 loss to the Rockies, retiring one batter via strikeout and allowing a double to the other batter he faced. With Jose Quintana completing his ramp-up program at Triple-A Nashville and getting called up to make his Brewers debut Friday, Rodriguez ended up shifting to the bullpen. The Brewers' decision to drop Rodriguez from the rotation came as little surprise, as he had served up 11 earned runs on 14 hits and two walks over nine innings between his two starts. He'll likely see most of his usage in lower-leverage spots moving forward.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Will get another start

Rodriguez will Saturday against the Reds, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez coughed up four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday against the Royals in his first start in the majors since 2022. The Brewers are in a tough spot as they navigate multiple injuries in their rotation, so they will give Rodriguez at least one more opportunity.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Gives up four runs in loss

Rodriguez (0-1) allowed four runs on six hits and one walk over four innings Monday, striking out three and taking the loss against the Royals. Rodriguez got roughed up right out of the gate with three first-inning runs, and he gave up a fourth in the second frame when he gave up a solo home run to Maikel Garcia. Rodriguez was able to retire eight of the next 10 batters faced, but he wasn't able to get enough run support from the Brewers hitters to avoid the loss. He'll look to get off to a better start in his next outing, which is slated for this upcoming weekend against the Reds at home.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Tabbed as opener Monday

Rodriguez will start Monday's game against the Royals as an opening pitcher, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. The right-hander didn't pitch in Milwaukee's first two games of the season versus the Yankees, but he'll take the mound as an opener Monday with Brandon Woodruff (shoulder) and Tobias Myers (oblique) on the injured list and Jose Quintana still ramping up. Rodriguez had a 15:2 K:BB across 10.2 innings during spring training but surrendered nine earned runs and three homers. He built up to 3.2 innings in Cactus League play, so he could be capable of offering more length than the typical opener.

  • Brewers' Elvin Rodriguez: Gets MLB deal from Milwaukee

The Brewers signed Rodriguez to a one-year contract with a club option for 2026, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. Rodriguez spent the last year-and-a-half in Japan with the Yakult Swallows, posting a 2.77 ERA and 67:25 K:BB across 78 innings. The right-hander has eight appearances under his belt at the major-league level, having allowed 35 runs in 33 frames.

  • Rays' Elvin Rodriguez: Selected from Durham

The Rays selected Rodriguez from Triple-A Durham on Friday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports. Rodriguez holds a 3.40 ERA and 1.11 WHIP through 45 innings across 10 starts in Triple-A this season. He recently returned from right elbow tightness, and now he'll head to the majors, although it's not clear what his role might be for Tampa Bay. Rodriguez has a bit of major-league experience already -- he pitched 29.2 innings for Detroit last season and put up a 10.62 ERA and 1.92 WHIP alongside a 25:15 K:BB. Ryan Thompson was optioned to Durham to clear a spot on the active roster, and Jose Lopez was DFA'd to clear a 40-man spot.

  • Rays' Elvin Rodriguez: Returns from IL

Rodriguez (elbow) was reinstated from Triple-A Durham's 7-day injured list Sunday and covered three innings while striking out two and allowing one run on three hits and one walk in his return to the rotation. Rodriguez missed approximately five weeks due to right elbow tightness before he was cleared to rejoin the Durham rotation after making just one rehab start in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. The 25-year-old was on a limited workload Sunday, but he was generally efficient during his time on the mound, spotting 38 of his 55 pitches for strikes. Rodriguez doesn't have a spot on the Rays' 40-man roster, but he could nonetheless emerge as a starting option for the big club if he can stay healthy and continue to turn in quality results with Durham.

  • Rays' Elvin Rodriguez: Gets NRI deal from Tampa Bay

Rodriguez agreed Wednesday with the Rays on a minor-league deal that includes an invitation to spring training, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Rodriguez, 24, struggled to a 10.62 ERA and 25:15 K:BB while allowing 12 home runs in a 29.2-inning sample with Detroit in 2022. The right-hander will try and win a spot on the Rays' staff in the Grapefruit League, but he faces an uphill battle to break camp with the big club given Tampa Bay's ample pitching depth.

  • Tigers' Elvin Rodriguez: Removed from 40-man roster

Rodriguez cleared waivers and was outrighted to Triple-A Toledo on Thursday. Rodriguez appeared in seven games (five starts) for the Tigers in 2022 but won't stay on the 40-man roster through the offseason. He had a 10.62 ERA, 1.92 WHIP and 25:15 K:BB across 29.2 innings.

  • Tigers' Elvin Rodriguez: Set to join Detroit for twin bill

The Tigers plan to recall Rodriguez from Triple-A Toledo to have him pitch in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Mariners, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports. Rodriguez is expected to be designated as the 29th man for the twin bill, but the Tigers haven't indicated whether he'll be in line for a traditional start in the nightcap or if he'll be deployed as a bulk reliever. Either way, Rodriguez profiles as the Tigers pitcher most likely to factor into any decision. Over 26 innings at the big-league level in 2022, Rodriguez has generated a 10.04 ERA and 1.85 WHIP.

  • Tigers' Elvin Rodriguez: Confirmed to start Thursday

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Rodriguez will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Thursday's game against the Guardians in Cleveland, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports. Rodriguez will be rejoining the big club for the first time since mid-June, when he was optioned to Toledo after turning in an 11.21 WHIP and 1.81 WHIP over a four-game run in the Tigers rotation. The 24-year-old right-hander has found more success in his five outings since returning to Triple-A (3.33 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 20:6 K:BB in 24.1 innings), but he'll still make for a high-risk streaming option Thursday.

  • Tigers' Elvin Rodriguez: Blasted for 10 runs

Rodriguez (0-1) allowed 10 runs on 11 hits and two walks over 4.1 innings Friday, striking out four and taking a loss against the Yankees. Rodriguez turned in a pair of scoreless frames before things began to unravel in the third inning. Two of the four home runs he allowed came during the third, including Aaron Judge's solo shot with two outs. The other two were given up during the fifth and he was bounced from the contest after Matt Carpenter's two-run blast. Rodriguez's season ERA ballooned to 10.13 through 16 innings. He's currently projected for a home matchup with the Blue Jays next week.

  • Tigers' Elvin Rodriguez: Cleared to make next start

Rodriguez (lower body) is listed as the Tigers' scheduled starting pitcher for Friday's road game against the Yankees, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports. After striking out four Guardians through four scoreless frames in his second career MLB start last Sunday, Rodriguez was pulled in the fifth inning after developing lower-body cramping. The right-hander is apparently feeling fine again after some rest and getting rehydrated, so he'll be in the clear to make his third turn through the rotation this weekend. Detroit still has six starting pitchers currently residing on the injured list, so barring an implosion in New York, Rodriguez should have a good chance at sticking in the rotation beyond Friday's start.
