Reds' Rece Hinds: Sent back to Louisville
The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Thursday.
Hinds will end up as the roster casualty that makes room for Ke'Bryan Hayes, who was acquired by Cincinnati in a trade with the Pirates on Wednesday. Hinds owns a .959 OPS through 299 plate appearances in Triple-A this season but hasn't been able to translate it into MLB success, as he's gone just 5-for-43 at the plate in a Reds uniform.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Recalled from Triple-A
The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Tuesday, Charlie Goldsmith of Fox 19 Now Cincinnati reports.
Hinds will provide some outfield depth while TJ Friedl is on the paternity list. He is likely to be sent back down once Friedl returns later this week.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Sent back to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
After being promoted from Louisville on June 22, Hinds appeared in seven games for the Reds and went 2-for-23 with four runs scored. In a corresponding move, the Reds reinstated Connor Joe (illness) from the 10-day injured list, and he'll likely replace Hinds as a short-side platoon player in the corner outfield.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Back on bench vs. RHP
Hinds is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies.
Hinds was included in the lineup in four of the past five games while Cincinnati faced a parade of southpaws, but he'll be back on the bench Sunday against Zack Wheeler. Hinds looks as though he'll be limited to the short side of a platoon in right field with Will Benson until Jake Fraley (shoulder) returns from the injured list.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Makes third start in four games
Hinds started in right field and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Saturday's 6-4 loss to San Diego.
Hinds made his third start in the last four games, with the first two coming against left-handers and Saturday's against a righty. The Reds are shorthanded in the outfield, which factors into Hinds' usage. Austin Hays just returned from a significant foot injury, while both Connor Joe (illness) and Jake Fraley (shoulder) are on the 10-day injured list. Hinds is 2-for-11 with five strikeouts and two runs scored in his three starts.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Starts against lefty
Hinds started in right field and went 1-for-4 with a run scored in Tuesday's 5-4 extra-innings win over the Yankees.
Hinds, who was called up from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday, entered the starting nine against New York lefty Carlos Rodon. Hinds had a healthy .298/.365/.556 line with 11 home runs, 44 RBI, 13 steals and 41 runs over 57 games for Louisville.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Moves up from Triple-A
The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Sunday.
Hinds will be up for the second time this season after he went 3-for-19 with a pair of home runs during a two-week stretch with the big club in May. He'll receive another look after slashing .381/.435/.683 with a palatable 21.7 percent strikeout rate so far in June for Louisville. Expect the Reds to deploy Hinds mainly as a short-side platoon player in the corner outfield or at designated hitter.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Optioned to Triple-A
The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Friday.
While he popped two home runs during his time with the big club, Hinds went just 3-for-19 with 10 strikeouts. The Reds are replacing him with a more versatile player in Garrett Hampson.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Bops homer in win
Hinds started in right field and went 1-for-3 with a solo home run in Saturday's 4-1 win over Cleveland.
Hinds was added to the starting lineup when Gavin Lux was scratched due to back spasms. The outfielder did what he does best -- deliver an extra-base hit. Hinds has 15 hits in the majors over the last two years, and 13 have gone for extra bases.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Continues to flash power potential
Hinds went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, a double and a walk in Thursday's extra-inning loss to Atlanta.
Making just his second appearance of the season so far, Hinds took Atlanta closer Raisel Iglesias deep for a go-ahead two-run homer in the ninth inning. Hinds has flashed plenty of slugging potential during his brief major-league career -- he's now slashing .269/.345/.750 with six big flies, five doubles and 13 RBI along with two stolen bases over 58 lifetime plate appearances -- but he's struggled to lock down a consistent spot on the Reds' roster. The right fielder could get a chance to carve out a stable role while Noelvi Marte (oblique) is on the injured list, but there's no guarantee Hinds will stick around with the big-league club once Marte is healthy.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Starts in right field
Hinds started in right field and went 0-for-3 in Wednesday's 4-3 win over Atlanta.
Hinds was recalled from Triple-A Louisville and started in right field for Jake Fraley (calf), who is day-to-day. The Reds have a few outfield injuries -- Austin Hays (hamstring) and Tyler Callihan (forearm) are on the 10-day injured list -- so Hinds may get additional work in the next few days. He slashed .281/.343/.554 with eight home runs and 12 steals this season for Louisville.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Summoned from Triple-A
The Reds recalled Hinds from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Hinds has slashed .281/.343/.554 with eight home runs and 12 steals this season with Louisville but has also struck out at a 29.7 percent clip. The right-handed-hitting Hinds could see regular starts in the outfield when the Reds oppose lefties.

Reds' Rece Hinds: Cut from big-league camp
The Reds optioned Hinds to Triple-A Louisville on Monday.
Hinds made waves last summer when he was called up from Triple-A in July and proceeded to hit five home runs in his first six big-league games, but he faded badly thereafter, slashing .042/.148/.083 with nine strikeouts in his final 27 plate appearances of the season with Cincinnati. Making consistent contact had remained an issue this spring for Hinds, who struck out in six of his 14 at-bats in Cactus League play. He should handle an everyday role in the outfield as he heads back to Louisville to begin the upcoming season, but Hinds likely need to refine his approach at the plate and cut down on strikeouts before garnering serious consideration for a promotion back to the majors.
