  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Placed on paternity list

The Guardians placed Schneemann on the paternity list Monday. Schneemann will likely miss all three games of his team's three-game set against the Rays that begins Monday as he welcomes a new addition to the family. Will Wilson was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to take Schneemann's spot on the active roster.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Absent from lineup

Schneemann isn't in the lineup for Thursday's game against the Marlins. An 0-for-4 performance Wednesday prevented Schneemann from extending his hitting streak to five games, and he'll now grab a seat on the bench while Steven Kwan, Angel Martinez and C.J. Kayfus start in the outfield for Cleveland.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Idle against southpaw

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets. Schneemann and fellow left-handed hitters Kyle Manzardo, Bo Naylor and Nolan Jones will head to the bench for the second time in the series while the Mets send southpaw David Peterson to the hill for the finale. With Schneemann out of the lineup, Angel Martinez and C.J. Kayfus will pick up starts in the outfield alongside left fielder Steven Kwan.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Reaches 10-homer mark

Schneemann went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Twins. Schneemann had gone 14 games without a homer, batting a modest .238 (10-for-42) in that span, but he ended the power drought in the third inning. Schneemann had been seeing a decent share of playing time in right field, but the promotion of C.J. Kayfus will likely lead to Schneemann slipping into more of a utility role. He has primarily played against right-handed pitchers this season, logging just 43 of his 286 plate appearances against southpaws. The 28-year-old hasn't done enough to earn a larger role, slashing .226/.312/.397 with 10 homers, 29 RBI, 35 runs scored, 13 doubles and eight stolen bases across 89 games.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Makes impact in doubleheader

Schneemann went 2-for-8 with a double, a solo home run, a stolen base and a second run scored across both games of Friday's doubleheader split with the White Sox. The utility infielder started at second base in both contests, swatting his ninth homer of the season in the matinee before swiping his sixth bag in the nightcap. Schneemann's playing time could be in jeopardy after the All-Star break, however, if Lane Thomas (foot) is ready to come off the IL and bump Angel Martinez back to the infield -- Martinez is red hot at the plate, while Schneemann hasn't had a multi-hit performance since June 25 and is slashing a meager .105/.190/.211 over his last 14 games.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Getting afternoon off

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. With Tarik Skubal on the hill for Detroit, Schneemann will head to the bench after starting in each of the last three games. Will Wilson will replace Schneemann at second base and bat seventh.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Idle versus lefty

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. With southpaw Matthew Liberatore on the bump for the Cardinals, Schneemann will join fellow left-handed hitters Bo Naylor, Kyle Manzardo and Nolan Jones on the bench. Angel Martinez will replace Schneemann as the Guardians' starting second baseman.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Paves way for win with home run

Schneemann went 2-for-4 with a three-run home run Wednesday in a 4-2 win against San Francisco. Schneemann had the biggest hit of the night for either team with his three-run blast off Justin Verlander in the fourth inning. The long ball was his first extra-base hit since he rapped two doubles against the Yankees on June 4. Schneemann remains in a strong-side platoon role -- he regularly rests against lefty starters -- which dings his fantasy value despite a relatively promising campaign that includes a .775 OPS, eight homers, 21 RBI, 22 runs and five stolen bases through 56 games.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Logs steal in loss

Schneemann went 2-for-3 with a walk, a stolen base and one run scored in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Mariners. Schneemann spent a large portion of the week on the bench due to a run of opposing left-handed pitchers, but he's been back in the lineup at second base against a pair of Seattle right-handers. The infielder has gone 7-for-24 (.292) over seven contests in June, logging three steals and two RBI in that span. For the season, he's at a .248/.333/.436 slash line with five steals, seven home runs, 18 RBI, 21 runs scored and seven doubles over 169 plate appearances while primarily serving in a strong-side platoon role.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: First start in five games

Schneemann started at second base and went 0-for-4 in Friday's 7-2 loss to Seattle. Schneemann made his first start in five games, and Friday marked the first time in five games that the Guardians faced a right-hander. He's doing better against righties (.802 OPS) than southpaws (.526), so he should continue to serve on the strong side of a platoon, though Schneemann has recently struggled, going 14-for-72 (.194) over his last 23 contests.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Three hits, stolen base in win

Schneemann went 3-for-4 with two doubles, an RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 4-0 win over the Yankees. Schneemann extended the Guardians' lead to 3-0 in the first inning with a two-run double before swiping third base for his fourth steal in five attempts this season. It's the first multi-hit game since May 6 for Schneemann -- he entered Wednesday with a .188 average (12-for-64) in his previous 21 games. Overall, the 28-year-old Schneemann is slashing .254/.338/.463 with seven homers, 18 RBI and 19 runs scored across 152 plate appearances this season while serving as Cleveland's primary second baseman.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Taking seat for series finale

Schneemann is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Tigers. Schneemann was included in the lineup the last time the Guardians faced a southpaw starter (Andrew Abbott) back on May 18, but the 28-year-old will retreat to the bench in Detroit while Tarik Skubal takes the hill. With Lane Thomas' recent return from the injured list giving Cleveland an extra right-handed bat in the outfield, utility player Angel Martinez could end up serving as a platoon partner for Schneemann at second base.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Swipes bag in win

Schneemann went 1-for-2 with a stolen base in Saturday's 7-5 extra-inning win over the Tigers. Schneemann has hit safely in seven of his last 10 games, going 7-for-30 (.233) in that span. He's carved out a starting role, primarily at second base, since Brayan Rocchio was sent down to Triple-A Columbus, but Schneemann's bat has cooled off a bit after a stronger start to the month. Overall, he's at a .255/.339/.464 slash line with six home runs, five doubles, one steal, 13 RBI and 16 runs scored across 125 plate appearances.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Starter at second base

Schneemann started at second base and went 0-for-3 in Monday's 5-0 win over the Brewers. Schneemann's hot bat since the beginning of May generated more plate appearances for him, and shortstop Brayan Rocchio's demotion to the minors Monday opened up a regular gig. Gabriel Arias will cover short, while Schneemann gets regular starts at second base. Since May 1, Schneemann has a 1.101 OPS with three home runs, two doubles, eight RBI and eight runs scored over 10 contests.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Sitting down for Game 2

Schneemann isn't in the lineup for the nightcap of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Nationals. Schneemann went 0-for-2 with a walk and scored a run during a 10-9 loss in Game 1 and will grab a seat on the bench to finish the day. Gabriel Arias will move to fill the opening at the keystone, opening up shortstop for Brayan Rocchio.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Enters for injured teammate

Schneemann entered Friday's game as a pinch runner for Jose Ramirez (ankle) and stayed in the game. He went 1-for-1 with a double and a run scored. Schneemann replaced Ramirez on first base in the third inning and remained in game at second base while Gabriel Arias moved from second to third. The Guardians have described Ramirez's injury has a minor-grade sprain, which makes it sound like he won't miss much time.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Gaining foothold in everyday lineup

Schneemann will start at second base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Twins. At least temporarily, Schneemann seems to have supplanted the struggling Brayan Rocchio for a regular spot in Cleveland's middle infield. For the second straight day, Rocchio finds himself on the bench against a right-handed starting pitcher (Pablo Lopez), while Schneemann has now been included in the lineup in five of the last six matchups with righties. According to Chris Assenheimer of the Elyria Chronicle-Telegram, manager Stephen Vogt implied the hotter bat is Schneemann, who is slashing .379/.419/.586 dating back to April 13.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Solo shot against Baltimore

Schneemann went 2-for-4 with a solo homer in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Orioles. Schneemann got the Guardians on the board in the third inning when he took the first pitch he saw from Tomoyuki Sugano deep to center field for a 395-foot solo homer. It was Schneemann's second home run of the season, and the 28-year-old has gone 5-for-11 with one homer and two RBI over his last three games.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Enters mid-game

Schneemann entered Tuesday's 1-0 win over the White Sox after center fielder Lane Thomas (wrist) was removed. After Thomas took a pitch off his right wrist, Schneemann entered as the pinch runner. When Schneemann's first plate appearance came around in the seventh inning, manager Stephen Vogt sent up pinch hitter Jhonkensy Noel. It's unclear how Vogt will manage the position if Thomas is unavailable for a period of time. Schneemann is 1-for-12 with six strikeouts through six games this season.

  • Guardians' Daniel Schneemann: Pops home run in win

Schneemann went 1-for-1 with three walks, a solo home run and an additional run scored in Sunday's 6-2 win over Kansas City. Schneemann was in the lineup for a second straight game and cracked his first home run. He's currently sharing second base with Gabriel Arias, who was needed at third base for the injured Jose Ramirez (wrist).
