    The Padres optioned Reynolds to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. Reynolds will lose his place in the big-league bullpen to make room for Randy Vasquez, who was recalled from Triple-A to start Saturday's game against Colorado. Reynolds, 27, owns a 5.33 ERA and 1.37 WHIP through 27 innings in the majors this season but could still make another appearance for San Diego if/when the team needs a fresh bullpen arm.

    Reynolds (foot) is no longer wearing a walking boot and and is scheduled to ramp up his throwing in early April, per MLB.com. Reynolds was diagnosed with a stress reaction in his right foot in late February, but a recent MRI revealed "significant healing" in the affected extremity. As such, the righty reliever is slated to began building back up in around two weeks if he doesn't experience any setbacks. Reynolds won't be ready for Opening Day, but he could be a factor in San Diego's bullpen sometime in May.

    Reynolds is in a walking boot Sunday due to a stress reaction in his right foot and is expected to remain in the boot for 10 more days, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. The right-hander made his big-league debut last summer and had a 0.82 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 21:5 K:BB across 11 innings before finishing the year in the minors, but the foot injury could derail his chances of winning a spot on San Diego's Opening Day roster. Even if Reynolds begins the campaign back at Triple-A El Paso, it should only be a matter of time before he's back in the big leagues.

    The Marlins traded Reynolds and Garrett Cooper to the Padres on Tuesday in exchange for Ryan Weathers, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. Reynolds was originally drafted as a first baseman and corner outfielder back in 2016, but he has since converted fully into a relief pitcher and was sporting a 2.77 ERA with 54 strikeouts through 48.2 innings this season between Double-A Pensacola and Triple-A Jacksonville. The 25-year-old will likely report to the Triple-A affiliate of the Padres in El Paso.
