  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Falters late in no-decision

Gomez did not factor into the decision in Friday's 10-9 win over the Nationals, allowing five runs on eight hits and no walks with five strikeouts over six innings. Gomez entered the sixth in line for a quality start before yielding three runs in the frame, ending the day having allowed four home runs. It still marked the longest outing of the 25-year-old's career, and he posted a 4.60 ERA over nine second-half starts. For the season, he finished with a 5.17 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 58:27 K:BB across 62.2 innings as both a reliever and starter.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Punches out four in third loss

Gomez (3-3) was charged with the loss Saturday against the Padres, allowing three runs on six hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out four. Gomez worked at least five innings for the fifth straight outing, but he's still without a quality start in 2025. The swingman has a 4.92 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 53:27 K:BB across 56.2 innings (eight starts), leaving his fantasy value quite limited outside of the most favorable matchups. Gomez is scheduled to get one more chance to leave an impression in the Chicago rotation ahead of 2026 next weekend against the Nationals.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Fans four in no-decision

Gomez didn't factor into the decision Sunday at Cleveland, allowing two runs on two hits and one walk over five innings with four strikeouts. The 25-year-old fared much better in this 77-pitch outing after coughing up four runs across five frames in his last appearance. Gomez conceded both runs on a fourth inning double by Bo Naylor -- the only extra-base hit he allowed. Since entering the White Sox rotation Aug. 12, Gomez has been a solid pitching option, producing a 4.01 ERA, 1.19 WHIP and 36:14 K:BB over 33.2 innings. The Chicago right-hander currently lines up to make his next start at home against the Padres next weekend.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Allows two homers

Gomez allowed four runs on five hits and a walk while striking out five in five innings Tuesday against the Rays. He did not factor into the decision. Three of the four runs against Gomez came via the long ball -- a two-run homer by Josh Lowe in the second and a solo shot by Richie Palacios in the fourth. It marks Gomez's first time in 18 appearances this season allowing multiple home runs. Gomez's strikeout numbers remain solid, as he has a 10.6 K/9 in his last four outings and he's issued only two walks in his last two starts after having some command and control issues to end August. Gomez lines up to complete a two-start week against the Guardians this weekend.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Walks six in loss

Gomez (3-2) took the loss against the Yankees on Friday, allowing five runs (four earned) on two hits and six walks with six strikeouts over four innings. Gomez allowed a grand slam in the fourth inning and struggled with command overall, throwing just 47 of 87 pitches for strikes while issuing a season-high six walks. It marked a tough finish to an otherwise solid August, as the 25-year-old closed the month with a 3.86 ERA over his first four major-league starts. He'll carry a 5.20 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 35:24 K:BB across 36.1 innings into a road matchup with the Twins next week.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Goes 4.2 innings vs. Twins

Gomez did not factor into the decision Sunday against Minnesota, allowing two hits and three walks over 4.2 scoreless innings. He struck out six. While Gomez was able to hold the Twins scoreless, he was unable to qualify for a win after throwing 89 pitches before departing with two outs in the fifth inning. Still, the 25-year-old Gomez has been solid overall in three starts since shifting into the rotation, allowing four earned runs across 14.2 innings while striking out 16. He's currently lined up to face the Yankees at home his next time out.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Fans seven in first MLB start

Gomez (2-1) earned the win Tuesday against the Tigers, allowing one run on one hit and one walk over five innings. He struck out seven. Making his first major-league start, the 25-year-old right-hander set the tone early with three scoreless frames, keeping Detroit's bats quiet before Wenceel Perez broke through with a sacrifice fly in the fourth. The outing added to his growing body of work in the majors; he's now made 13 appearances this season, posting a 5.56 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 20:14 K:BB across 22.2 innings. Given his poise in a spot-start situation, Gomez could be in line for another turn in the rotation as the White Sox evaluate his role down the stretch.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Promoted for first MLB start

The White Sox selected Gomez's contract from Triple-A Charlotte, and he's scheduled to start Tuesday's game against the Tigers. The right-hander spent time with the White Sox, Dodgers and Yankees early in the season and had a 6.62 ERA and 13:13 K:BB across 17.2 relief innings, and he's worked as a starter at Charlotte for the past few months. Gomez has excelled in that role at Triple-A and has a 2.12 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 64:21 K:BB over 46.2 innings, so Chicago will now give him his first start in the majors.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Heads to Triple-A

The White Sox outrighted Gomez to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, Scott Merkin of MLB.com reports. Gomez was designated for assignment earlier in the week. He's appeared in 12 games for three different teams already this season. Gomez posted an 8.10 ERA and 2:2 K:BB across 3.1 innings out of the Chicago bullpen.

  • White Sox's Yoendrys Gomez: Claimed by Pale Hose

The White Sox claimed Gomez off waivers from the Dodgers on Saturday. The Dodgers designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday, one day after he gave up three earned runs while recording just one out against Miami. He has a bloated 6.28 ERA and 1.81 WHIP across 14.1 frames this season, but the White Sox recognized enough potential in the 25-year-old righty to put in a waiver claim for him. He'll report to the big club and will likely fill a long-relief role.

  • Dodgers' Yoendrys Gomez: Removed from 40-man roster

The Dodgers designated Gomez for assignment Tuesday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Gomez was claimed off waivers in late April and had been torched for seven runs over his last two appearances. His spot on the 26-man roster will be filled by J.P. Feyereisen.

  • Dodgers' Yoendrys Gomez: Claimed off waivers

The Dodgers claimed Gomez off waivers from the Yankees on Friday. New York designated the right-hander for assignment earlier in the week, but he'll remain on a 40-man roster after being claimed by Los Angeles. Gomez has a 2.70 ERA across 10 innings this season but hasn't exactly been reliable with a 5:9 K:BB.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Struggling with control

Gomez tossed two-thirds of an inning against San Francisco on Friday, allowing one run on no hits and four walks. He struck out two. Gomez entered in the sixth inning with New York trailing by seven and promptly walked the first three batters he faced. The righty rebounded to strike out Matt Chapman and Heliot Ramos with the bases loaded, but he then issued another free pass to force in a run. Gomez didn't get a chance to throw another pitch, as Mother Nature intervened, and the contest was called due to inclement weather. Overall, Gomez threw just 14 of 33 pitches for strikes in the outing, continuing a troubling early season trend -- through seven innings this season, he's walked eight batters. Of additional concern is that Gomez's velocity was down Friday, as he averaged just 90.1 mph on his fastball. However, he said through an interpreter after the contest that he "felt good" and suggested that the rough weather may have affected his performance, mentioning "some factors" that he had to deal with, per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. The Associated Press also notes that Gomez had trouble gripping the ball due to the rain.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Sent to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Gomez was able to get through his two-inning appearance Monday without giving up a run, bringing his ERA down to 3.97 through 11.1 frames in the majors. He'll now return to Triple-A following the acquisition of Mark Leiter from the Cubs, though Gomez could still return to New York later in the year should the Yankees need a fresh bullpen arm.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Back in bullpen

The Yankees recalled Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Gomez fanned the side in his lone appearance with the Yankees earlier this season. He's been used as a starter in the minors but figures to settle in as a long reliever in the majors this time around.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Returns to Triple-A

Gomez was optioned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after Sunday's 5-2 loss to the Padres. Gomez will return to Triple-A after tossing a scoreless inning with three strikeouts in the team's 8-0 victory over San Diego on Friday. The right-hander was filling in for Nick Burdi (hip) on the major-league roster, but with Ian Hamilton (illness) set to be activated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of the team's series in Anaheim on Tuesday, Gomez was the odd man out with New York.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Recalled from Triple-A

The Yankees recalled Gomez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. With Nick Burdi (hip) headed to the injured list, Gomez will fill the opening in New York's bullpen. The 24-year-old righty pitched two scoreless innings during his MLB debut last season and has posted a 3.62 ERA and 1.44 WHIP through 27.1 frames this year at Triple-A.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Optioned back to minors

The Yankees optioned Gomez to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Friday. Gomez made his major-league debut Thursday in Toronto and struck out four of the eight batters he faced over two scoreless innings of relief. The 23-year-old right-hander should be a consideration for the Opening Day roster next spring, whether in a rotation or bullpen role. He's mostly worked as a starter in the minors.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Called up for debut

Gomez was called up from Double-A Somerset on Friday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports. Gomez held a 3.58 ERA and 78:37 K:BB across 65.1 innings of work covering 19 starts with Somerset this season to earn a look with the big club. The 23-year-old right-hander will be making his major-league debut when he gets into a game. Luke Weaver is slated to start Friday's game versus the Diamondbacks, so Gomez could be needed to eat some relief innings.

  • Yankees' Yoendrys Gomez: Assigned to minor-league camp

Gomez was reassigned to Double-A Somerset following Monday's spring training game against the Pirates. Gomez appeared in two spring games with the Yankees before being sent to the minors to prepare for the upcoming 2023 campaign. He allowed one run on two hits and two walks while striking out four across five innings while up with the big club.
