  • Rays' Everson Pereira: Sitting after three straight starts

Pereira is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees. After going 1-for-9 with two walks, a stolen base and a run scored while starting each of the last three games in center field, Pereira will be the odd man out of the Tampa Bay outfield while Josh Lowe (oblique) makes his return to action. While Pereira likely won't be in line for regular playing time against righties with the outfield unit now closer to full strength, he could spell Lowe, Jake Mangum or Chandler Simpson in the outfield when the Rays oppose lefties.

  • Rays' Everson Pereira: Three straight starts

Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, a run scored and a stolen base Tuesday against the Yankees. Pereira was recalled by the Rays Aug. 11 and made his third consecutive start Tuesday with Josh Lowe (oblique) sidelined. He has only three hits across 19 at-bats since his promotion, but he could be a decent source of steals if he continues to find playing time.

  • Rays' Everson Pereira: Summoned to big leagues

The Rays recalled Pereira from Triple-A Durham on Monday. Acquired from the Yankees at the deadline in a trade that sent Jose Caballero to New York, Pereira has slashed .256/.359/.508 with 21 home runs, nine stolen bases and a 29.2 percent strikeout rate at the Triple-A level in 2025. The right-handed hitter should at least see starts against left-handed pitching, and he could earn reps versus righties, too.

  • Rays' Everson Pereira: Traded to Rays

Pereira was traded from the Yankees to the Rays on Thursday in exchange for Jose Caballero, Jack Curry of YES Network reports. Given that there seemed to be no path for Pereira to get another shot in New York, this is a good development for his dynasty value. He is still just 24 and is slashing .254/.357/.507 with 19 home runs, nine steals and a 28.7 percent strikeout rate in 70 games at Triple-A.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Optioned to Triple-A

The Yankees optioned Pereira to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Pereira has a 1.090 OPS this spring but has been limited to designated hitter duty following last June's elbow surgery. He should be ready to play the field soon and will receive everyday reps at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre as he waits for an opportunity with the big club.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Healthy going into spring training

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday in an interview on WFAN Sports Radio that Pereira (elbow) is healthy and will compete for a roster spot in spring training. Pereira underwent an internal brace surgery on his right elbow in June, but it sounds like he's fully recovered and won't have any restrictions in spring training. While the Yankees could carry Pereira on the Opening Day roster as a reserve outfielder, the club might prefer that he plays every day at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Needs internal brace surgery

Pereira is set to undergo a season-ending internal brace surgery on his right elbow in the coming days, Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports. Pereira had already been placed on Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre's full-season minor-league injured list, so it comes as little surprise that he'll be in line for major surgery. The rehab from an internal brace procedure is shorter than a full Tommy John surgery, especially for position players, but Pereira still seems likely to get a late start to next season. The 23-year-old slashed .265/.346/.512 with 10 home runs and five stolen bases over 40 games with Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in 2024.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Remains out Sunday

Pereira (hamstring) isn't in the Yankees' lineup Sunday against Arizona. Pereira hasn't appeared in a game since Sept. 14 as a result of his hamstring injury, but the Yankees are holding out on putting him on the injured list. Isiah Kiner-Falefa will start in left field Sunday and bat sixth.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Out of lineup again Friday

Pereira (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Friday's game versus the Diamondbacks. It's the eighth straight start Pereira has missed due to a hamstring injury. He is still listed among the Yankees' reserves Friday, so evidently the team isn't ready to put Pereira on the injured list yet. Oswaldo Cabrera is again handling left field.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Sits again with hamstring injury

Pereira (hamstring) is out of the lineup again Thursday versus the Blue Jays. Pereira was supposed to get regular playing time with the Yankees down the stretch, but he has been sidelined for a full week now because of a low-grade hamstring strain. Oswaldo Cabrera, Estevan Florial and Jake Bauers will start across the outfield Thursday.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Still out Tuesday

Pereira (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Blue Jays. Per Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News, Yankees manager Aaron Boone revealed earlier in the day that Pereira could require a stint on the injured list due to a low-grade hamstring strain, an injury that's kept the outfielder out of action for a few days. The team hasn't made a move yet with the rookie outfielder, though, so perhaps that's an encouraging sign. Pereira will need at least another day to recuperate, however. Oswaldo Cabrera is in left field again Tuesday.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: IL possible due to hamstring injury

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said on Jomboy Media's Talkin' Yanks podcast Tuesday that Pereira could be placed on the 10-day injured list due to a hamstring injury. The hamstring injury offers an explanation as to why Pereira hasn't played since Thursday. Theoretically, Pereira could make it back before the end of the season if he ultimately does require a trip to the IL. Realistically, it probably wouldn't happen with so few days left on the calendar and the Yankees all but officially eliminated from playoff contention. The rookie outfielder has struggled mightily during his first taste of big-league action, slashing just .143/.241/.186 with a 39.2 percent strikeout rate. Oswaldo Cabrera has started in left field for the Yankees each of the last three games and could continue to see regular time there with Pereira out.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Taking seat Friday

Pereira is out of the lineup Friday at Pittsburgh. Oswaldo Cabrera, Estevan Florial and Aaron Judge are starting across the outfield for the visiting Yankees. Pereira, 22, has batted just .143/.241/.186 with 31 strikeouts across his first 79 major-league plate appearances.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Takes seat for nightcap

Pereira is out of the lineup for the second game of Thursday's doubleheader at Boston. Pereira went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts as the Yankees lost 5-0 in the first half of the twin bill. The 22-year-old is showing a weak .143/.241/.186 batting line through his first 79 major-league plate appearances. Giancarlo Stanton, Estevan Florial and Oswaldo Cabrera will start across the outfield for New York in the nightcap, with Aaron Judge occupying the DH role.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Swipes two bags in nightcap

Pereira went 1-for-3 with a walk, two runs scored and two stolen bases in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Red Sox. After going 0-for-3 in the matinee but scoring a run after being hit by a pitch in the sixth inning, Pereira put his speed to better use in the nightcap. The 22-year-old rookie has had a tough start to his big-league career with a .450 OPS and a 38.7 percent strikeout rate through 75 plate appearances, but his 54.1 percent hard-hit rate and 4-for-4 performance on the basepaths highlight his electric tools.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Not part of Monday's lineup

Pereira is not in the lineup for Monday's game against the Red Sox. Pereira owns just a .406 OPS against right-handers since joining the Yankees, so he will be held out in favor of the lefty-swinging Jake Bauers with righty Kutter Crawford starting for Boston on Monday.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Sitting Friday

Pereira isn't in the Yankees' lineup Friday against the Brewers. Pereira is slashing just .151/.224/.208 across 58 plate appearances to begin his major-league career, and he'll get a day off Friday to regroup. Oswaldo Cabrera will fill in as New York's left fielder and bat ninth.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Showing improvement at plate

Pereira went 1-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's 5-4 win over Houston. The Yankees appear to be committed to Pereira as their primary left fielder down the stretch, as he's been in the lineup there every day since being called up from the minors Aug. 22. The 22-year-old struggled initially, going 3-for-28 with 13 strikeouts over his first eight contests but has shown some positive growth since, going 3-for-14 with three RBI, two thefts and a more tolerable four punchouts in his past four contests. New York is in last place in the AL East and 8.5 games out of a wild-card spot, so it wouldn't be surprising if the team continues to roll with Pereira for the remainder of the campaign.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Nabs first career steal

Pereira went 1-for-3 with two RBI and a stolen base in Wednesday's 6-2 victory over Detroit. Pereira was credited with an RBI as a result of being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the first inning, and he plated another run with a single in the third. The rookie also collected his first big-league steal in that frame, though he was stranded at second base. Pereira hasn't exactly had many attempts to swipe a bag since being called up to the majors -- he entered Wednesday having reached base just six times over 31 plate appearances. However, he's been getting every opportunity to show off his skills, serving as New York's everyday left fielder since being promoted.

  • Yankees' Everson Pereira: Starting in LF in MLB debut

The Yankees selected Pereira's contract from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Tuesday. Manager Aaron Boone said in an interview with Jomboy Media's "Talkin' Yanks" podcast that Pereira will start in left field Tuesday against the Nationals in what will be his major-league debut. The skipper added that while Pereira is capable of playing all three outfield spots, his immediate role will be as the team's regular left fielder. Pereira has batted .300/.373/.548 with 18 home runs and 11 stolen bases in 81 games between Double-A Somerset and Scranton/Wilkes-Barre this season.
