Barrios is facing a lengthy absence for High-A Bowling Green due to an elbow injury, Sam Dykstra of MLB Pipeline reports.
Barrios' absence is expected to stretch into at least May, as he is reportedly further behind Xavier Isaac (elbow), who is due back in late-April. Barrios, whom the Rays acquired from Milwaukee last year for Aaron Civale, is a glove-first shortstop prospect who hit .288 with one home run and 36 steals in 104 games at High-A in 2024.

Rays' Gregory Barrios: Acquired from Milwaukee
Rotowire
The Rays acquired Barrios from the Brewers on Wednesday in exchange for Aaron Civale, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports.
Barrios, 20, has slashed .317/.361/.423 with one home run and 16 stolen bases over 60 games with High-A Wisconsin this season. The right-handed hitter is considered a plus defender at shortstop and has shown nice progress with the bat in 2024. Barrios looks to be several years away but is a nice addition to Tampa Bay's farm system.
