  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Back from shoulder injury

Chourio (shoulder) was activated from the 7-day injured list at High-A Lake County on Friday. Chourio missed three weeks with a shoulder strain before beginning a rehab assignment in late May. He is hitting .226 with a .390 OBP, one home run and five steals over 29 games in the minors this year.

  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Hits IL with shoulder injury

High-A Lake County placed Chourio on its 7-day injured list Tuesday due to a right shoulder strain. According to Tim Stebbins of MLB.com, Chourio's shoulder injury is considered mild in nature and is expected to sideline him for just a couple of weeks. Chourio is slashing .214/.396/.271 with a home run and four steals across his first 21 games with Lake County.

  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Set to play in Spring Breakout game

Chourio (wrist) is listed on the Cleveland roster for its March 14 Spring Breakout game versus Seattle prospects, Tim Stebbins of MLB.com reports. Chourio turned in an impressive 2024 campaign at Single-A Lynchburg, slashing .273/.416/.401 with five home runs and 43 stolen bases over 435 plate appearances before fracturing his left wrist in late August. He appears to be facing no restrictions with his wrist during spring training, as Stebbins notes that the 19-year-old outfield prospect has been part of the big club's depth roster during camp.

  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Out for season with fractured wrist

Chourio will miss the remainder of the season after being diagnosed with a fractured left wrist, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports. Single-A Lynchburg placed him on the 7-day injured list Monday. Chourio suffered the injury Saturday while diving for a ball during a game with Lynchburg. The 19-year-old slashed .270/.414/.398 with five home runs and 44 stolen bases across 98 games with Lynchburg this season. Chourio should have a relatively normal offseason after recovering from the fractured wrist.

  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Speed, patience at Single-A

Chourio is hitting .271 with a .391 on-base percentage, three home runs and 19 steals in 53 games for Single-A Lynchburg. The speedy center fielder has more walks (39) than strikeouts (38), and while he won't be mistaken for a slugger, his .130 ISO and 39.6 percent pull rate are career highs. Chourio has never had a groundball rate below 50 percent, and that mark sits at 52.6 percent for the Hillcats, which is suppressing his power output.

  • Guardians' Jaison Chourio: Climbs to Single-A

Chourio is hitting .200 with zero home runs, one steal and 13 strikeouts in seven games since getting promoted to Single-A Lynchburg on Aug. 24. The 18-year-old younger brother of Brewers phenom Jackson Chourio was an outstanding table setter in the Arizona Complex League before getting promoted, so his first season stateside will still be considered a big success. Chourio slashed .349/.476/.463 with one home run and 19 steals in 39 ACL games, thanks partially to an inflated .451 BABIP. Chourio's command of the strike zone and speed stand out as clear strengths, but his 54.1 percent groundball rate and 42.1 percent opposite-field rate against complex pitchers suggest he has a long way to go before notable game power is a reality.
