  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Knocks three hits in loss

Ritter went 3-for-4 in Thursday's 6-2 loss to the Mariners. Ritter did his part to get on base, but he wasn't directly involved in any run-scoring plays. He's seen a part-time role in September, batting .237 (9-for-38) over 14 games this month. The infielder is at a .251/.301/.352 slash line with one home runs, three stolen bases, 18 RBI, 22 runs scored, nine doubles and three triples over 197 plate appearances in the majors this season.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Resting Saturday

Ritter isn't in the lineup for Saturday's game against the Angels, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. After tallying a base hit in each of his last two games, Ritter will take a seat to begin Saturday's contest. Tyler Freeman will take over as Colorado's second baseman, allowing Yanquiel Fernandez to start as the DH.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Taking seat Wednesday

Ritter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins. After missing five straight games due to an unspecified issue, Ritter had returned to the lineup to start in both of the Rockies' past two contests. He went hitless with two strikeouts in five at-bats between those games and will now retreat to the bench Wednesday. Orlando Arcia will get the nod at second base in Ritter's stead.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Back in action Sunday

Ritter (undisclosed) will start at second base and bat ninth in Sunday's game against the Padres. Ritter was held out of the lineup for each of the previous five games due to an unspecified issue, though he was able to make an appearance off the bench in Saturday's 11-3 loss. He reached base in his lone plate appearance when he was hit by a pitch, but he was able to stay in the game and is now ready to reclaim a starting role in the series finale.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Sitting fourth straight

Ritter isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against San Diego. Friday will mark the fourth straight start Ritter has missed while he continues to battle an undisclosed issue. His absence will give Orlando Arcia a start at second base against southpaw JP Sears.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Sitting again Friday

Ritter is not in the Rockies' starting lineup against the Cubs on Friday. Ritter will ride the bench for a third consecutive game, despite going 10-for-34 (.294) with five RBI since returning from the 10-day IL on Aug. 15. Orlando Arcia will start at second base and bat ninth.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Idle Thursday

Ritter is out of the lineup for Thursday's game in Houston. Though he's hitting .294 since being activated from the injured list Aug. 15, Ritter hasn't yet taken full control of an everyday role at second base for the Rockies. He'll hit the bench for the third time in four games while the Rockies use Tyler Freeman at the keystone on Thursday.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Receiving rest Wednesday

Ritter is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Astros. Though Ritter saw his 10-game hitting streak come to an end in Tuesday's 6-1 win, he remained productive from the bottom of the lineup by reaching base twice and coming around to score on both occasions. Orlando Arcia will fill in for Ritter at the keystone in Wednesday's contest.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Back from 10-day IL

The Rockies activated Ritter (finger) from the 10-day injured list Friday. Ritter took a pitch off his right middle finger July 19 and required stitches. In a corresponding move, the Rockies optioned Adael Amador to Triple-A Albuquerque. Ritter has slashed .238/.291/.347 with one home run, 12 RBI, 13 runs scored, one stolen base and a 7:35 BB:K across his first 113 big-league plate appearances this season.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Plays first rehab game

Ritter (finger) went 1-for-4 with two RBI in his first rehab game with Triple-A Albuquerque on Tuesday. Ritter is finally ready to play in games again after going on the 10-day injured list nearly four weeks ago with a significant laceration on his right middle finger. He should not require too many rehab contests before rejoining the Rockies' active roster, and with Thairo Estrada (hamstring) done for the season, Ritter could take over as the Rockies' regular second baseman.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Lands on 10-day IL

The Rockies placed Ritter (finger) on the 10-day injured list Sunday, Christian Saez of TheDNVR.com reports. Ritter need stitches Saturday after taking a pitch off his right middle finger while laying down a sacrifice bunt. The initial expectation was that the rookie infielder would only need to miss a few days, but the move to the IL means Ritter will be out until at least July 30. Colorado called up Adael Amador from Triple-A Albuquerque for infield depth, while Orlando Arcia and Kyle Farmer should log starts at the keystone while Ritter remains sidelined.

  • Rockies' Ryan Ritter: Suffers finger injury Saturday

Ritter is expected to miss "a few days" of action after needing stitches to close a cut on his right middle finger during Saturday's contest versus Minnesota, Patrick Lyons of JustBaseball.com reports. Ritter was hurt when a pitch hit his finger while he was laying down a sacrifice bunt in the sixth inning. The infielder had to leave the contest and received three stitches, but X-rays returned negative. It appears Ritter has avoided a serious injury, but he'll likely need to be held out of action for a few days. Orlando Arcia replaced him in the field Saturday and could get a few starts at second base while Ritter is out.

Ritter will take a seat after he started in each of the previous three games while going 1-for-9 with two walks and a run scored. Ritter has been getting more work at shorstop with Ezequiel Tovar (oblique) on the injured list since early June.
