  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Hit hard in bulk-relief loss

Cannon (4-10) took the loss Wednesday against the Yankees, surrendering five runs on six hits and a walk while striking out six over 4.1 innings. Cannon entered in the first inning after opener Fraser Ellard walked the bases loaded, and he managed to escape the jam quickly by striking out Paul Goldschmidt. However, the right-hander quickly unraveled, giving up back-to-back multi-run frames that included a three-run homer from Aaron Judge in the second. The long ball marked the seventh Cannon has allowed in his last five starts, a brutal stretch in which he's posted a 13.50 ERA across 18.2 innings while giving up at least five runs in every outing and taking three losses. The 25-year-old now owns a 5.87 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 84:38 K:BB across 102.2 innings this season.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Back with big club

The White Sox recalled Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. Cannon takes the 26-man roster spot of Wikelman Gonzalez after he was placed on the 15-day IL with a right elbow impingement. Cannon has appeared in 20 games for Chicago this season and made 17 starts, posting a 5.67 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 78:37 K:BB across 98.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Rocked in bulk-relief outing

Cannon allowed five runs on five hits and two walks while striking out two over 2.1 innings versus the Twins on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision. Cannon pitched out of the bullpen, following 1.1 scoreless innings from opener Fraser Ellard. Cannon's struggles mostly came in the fourth inning, but the White Sox were ultimately able to persevere and went on to win 11-8. The right-hander's 2025 had some promising moments in the first half, but he's now allowed 25 runs (24 earned) over 21.1 innings across his last five appearances. Overall, Cannon has a 4.22 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 78:37 K:BB through 98.1 innings across 20 appearances (17 starts).

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Set for bulk relief Thursday

The White Sox will recall Cannon from Triple-A Charlotte to pitch in bulk relief during Thursday's game against the Twins, Kyle Williams of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. Cannon owns a 5.34 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 96 innings in the majors, but he's set to make his return to Chicago and follow opener Fraser Ellard on Thursday. The right-hander will get to face a Twins offense that sports a .696 OPS since the beginning of August, but he shouldn't be viewed as a reliable fantasy option after giving up at least five earned runs in each of his last three big-league outings.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Sent down to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Cannon to Triple-A Charlotte on Friday. Cannon had yielded six or more runs in three consecutive starts, and he'll lose his spot on the active roster as a result. The poor stretch of play came out of nowhere for Cannon, as he had allowed six total runs in his previous four outings before the rough stretch. Wikelman Gonzalez was recalled from Charlotte in a corresponding move.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Struggles again Wednesday

Cannon (4-9) allowed seven runs on four hits and three walks over 1.2 innings to take the loss against Seattle on Wednesday. He struck out three batters. Cannon fell behind quickly, giving up a two-run home run to Josh Naylor in the first inning. Things got even worse for the hurler in the second, as the Mariners put five more runs on the board, the final three of which came on a Julio Rodriguez three-run homer. The seven total runs Cannon allowed were his most so far this season, and he's now given up a total of 19 runs (18 earned) across 12 innings over his past three starts. The rough stretch has ballooned his season ERA from 4.18 to 5.34.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Tagged with six runs

Cannon (4-8) yielded six runs on seven hits and two walks over six innings Tuesday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Phillies. All the damage against Cannon came in the first three innings, with four runs coming in the third on a pair of two-run homers by Kyle Schwarber and Brandon Marsh. Cannon did not let another baserunner reach scoring position after that ugly frame. He's been tagged with 12 runs (11 earned) in his last two outings, raising his season ERA from 4.18 to 4.77 in the process. Prior to these two starts, he was 2-0 with a 2.66 ERA in four appearances since his last loss June 2. Cannon is projected to take the mound in Seattle next week.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Struggles but fans nine

Cannon allowed six runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out nine batters over 4.1 innings in a no-decision against Tampa Bay on Wednesday. It was truly a mixed bag for Cannon in the outing -- he had pretty good control in throwing 58 of 90 pitches for strikes and missed plenty of bats, notching an impressive 18 whiffs and a season-high nine punchouts. However, the right-hander also tied a season-worst mark in allowing six runs, though one was unearned. Cannon also served up two homers after giving up just one long ball over his previous four outings combined. He had posted a 2.66 ERA across 20.1 frames during that four-game stretch, so Wednesday's performance was a step back despite the healthy punchout total. Cannon's next start is projected to be a home matchup against Philadelphia.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Fans five in no-decision

Cannon didn't factor into the decision in the second game of Friday's doubleheader against the Guardians, giving up two runs on three hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out five. Chicago went on to split the twin bill by winning the nightcap in 11 innings, and Cannon pitched well enough to keep his team in the game early, with his only real mistake resulting in a two-run homer by Jose Ramirez in the third inning. Cannon will head into the All-Star break with a 4.44 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 61:29 K:BB through 77 innings on the season, and the 24-year-old righty's spot in the second-half rotation could depend on whether a veteran gets traded away before the deadline, as Davis Martin (forearm) is closing in on his return.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Start rained out

Cannon's start against the Guardians on Thursday was postponed due to rain. The teams will have a doubleheader Friday, with the first game set for 3:10 p.m. ET. Cannon should take the ball in one of those contests for his final start before the All-Star break.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Nabs first win since May 2

Cannon (3-7) earned the win Saturday in Colorado, giving up two runs on eight hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out one. The right-hander surrendered two runs on three hits during the opening frame but buckled down for another four-plus innings to keep the Rockies off the board. Cannon threw just 47 of 78 pitches for strikes and allowed 10 baserunners, but he limited the damage enough to secure his first victory since May 2, which was a run of six starts between wins. The 24-year-old has a 4.50 ERA, 1.46 WHIP and 56:26 K:BB over 72 innings through 14 outings in 2025.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Could start Sunday vs. Giants

White Sox manager Will Venable said Saturday that Cannon (back) could return from his rehab assignment and start as soon as Sunday against the Giants, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. Cannon landed on the 15-day injured list in early June due to a lower-back strain. He was cleared to make a rehab start with Triple-A Charlotte, and in his lone outing Tuesday he allowed one hit and one walk while striking out two across three scoreless innings. Cannon went 2-7 in 12 games (10 starts) with a 4.66 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 51:21 K:BB across 63.2 innings prior to his stint on the IL.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Ready for rehab assignment

Cannon (back) has been sent to Triple-A Charlotte to begin a rehab assignment, Bruce Levine of 670TheScore.com reports. Cannon expects to require just 1-to-2 rehab starts with Charlotte before rejoining the White Sox's rotation. The right-hander has been sidelined for the entirety of June with a lower-back strain.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Goes on IL with back injury

The White Sox placed Cannon on the 15-day injured list Tuesday with a lower-back strain. Cannon attempted to pitch through the injury Monday against the Tigers but didn't fare well, allowing five runs over just three innings. He'll be eligible to return June 18, but it's unclear at this point whether he will be ready to go by that date.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Logs another quality start

Cannon (2-4) took the loss Wednesday against the Royals after allowing two runs on nine hits and no walks in 5.1 innings. He struck out one. Cannon certainly didn't overwhelm the opposition, as he tied season worsts with nine hits allowed and one punchout, but he still managed to deliver his second consecutive quality start. While the right-hander has yielded a staggering 18 hits over his past two outings, that hasn't stopped him from throwing six innings of two-run ball in both appearances. Cannon hasn't lent a free pass in either of these starts. He'll still be tough to trust for fantasy purposes in his next scheduled start against the Reds at hitter-friendly Great American Ball Park, where he'll enter with a 4.09 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 33:17 K:BB across 44 innings.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Earns second win

Cannon (2-3) allowed two runs on nine hits and struck out five without walking a batter over six innings to earn the win Friday over the Astros. Cannon was back in a starting role after operating as a bulk reliever in his appearance versus the Athletics last Saturday. He wasn't dominant, but just two of the nine hits he allowed went for extra bases, and they were back-to-back doubles in the fourth inning that led to the Astros' first run. Cannon's two wins have come over his last two outings, and this was his first quality start of the season. He's pitched to a 4.26 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 32:17 K:BB across 38 innings over seven appearances this season. The 24-year-old is tentatively projected to take on the Royals in Kansas City his next time out.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Secures win in bulk role

Cannon (1-3) picked up the win Saturday against the Athletics, yielding three runs on six hits and two walks over 7.2 innings. He struck out five. The Chicago right-hander looked sharp in this outing, working behind opener Tyler Gilbert, who fired a clean first inning. Cannon generated a respectable 14 whiffs out of 95 total pitches. The 24-year-old now sports a 4.50 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 27:17 K:BB across 32 innings. Given his success pitching behind an opener, it would not be surprising to see the White Sox use Cannon in the same role for his next appearance, which currently lines up to be against the Astros at home.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Settles for no-decision Saturday

Cannon came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 1-0 loss to the Angels, giving up four hits and three walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out five. The 24-year-old righty engaged in a pitchers' duel with Jose Soriano in each hurler's 2025 debut, but Cannon was lifted after 85 pitches (53 strikes) and had to watch Mike Clevinger give up the game's only run in the eighth inning. Cannon held his own as a rookie last year, but his fantasy ceiling is limited given his inability to miss bats consistently and his team context. He lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend in Detroit.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Earns fifth win

Cannon (5-10) earned the win Sunday, allowing four runs on four hits and three walks over five innings against the Tigers. He struck out three. Cannon was staked with a rare 5-0 lead and carried it into the fifth inning. but three walks led to a grand slam by Kerry Carpenter that spoiled the righty's final line. Despite the disappointing end to his outing, the 24-year-old finished his first big-league campaign having made 21 starts among 23 appearances while posting a 4.49 ERA and 1.33 WHIP with 91 strikeouts across 124.1 innings.

  • White Sox's Jonathan Cannon: Snaps losing streak

Cannon (3-9) earned the win Wednesday over the Orioles, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings. He struck out four. Cannon's night got off to a rocky start after he allowed a homer to Gunnar Henderson to lead off the bottom of the first inning. However, the right-hander would keep Baltimore off the board for the remainder of his outing, allowing just four more hits en route to his first win since Aug. 6. The 24-year-old Cannon had struggled to a 7.78 ERA in four starts (19.2 innings) coming into Wednesday. His ERA now sits at 4.53 with a 1.39 WHIP and 70:33 K:BB across 101.1 innings in his rookie campaign. Cannon's currently lined up for a home matchup with the Guardians in his next outing.
