  • Orioles' Jose Castillo: Claimed by Baltimore

The Orioles claimed Castillo off waivers from the Mariners on Monday. Castillo will join his third different team this month after previous stints with the Mets and Mariners. The lefty has posted a 4.38 ERA and 23:11 K:BB over 24.2 frames this season in the majors.

  • Mariners' Jose Castillo: Designated for assignment

The Mariners designated Castillo for assignment Friday. Castillo's run with the Mariners will end after just nine days, during which he gave up one unearned run in three innings across three appearances. Casey Legumina will come up from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the vacancy in Seattle's bullpen.

  • Mariners' Jose Castillo: Claimed by Mariners

The Mariners claimed Castillo off waivers from the Mets on Wednesday. Castillo posted a 2.35 ERA and 19:6 K:BB over 15.1 innings with the Mets but was unable to lock down a steady roster spot. He'll now join the Mariners as a middle reliever.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Kicked off 40-man

The Mets designated Castillo for assignment Saturday. After giving up one run and throwing 47 pitches in two innings Friday, Castillo will be replaced with a fresh bullpen arm in Chris Devenski. Castillo sports a 4.98 ERA and 1.85 WHIP through 21.2 MLB innings and is now available on waivers for another bullpen-needy team to potentially claim.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Collects first win of season

Castillo (1-2) picked up the win over the Phillies on Monday, working a scoreless fifth inning without a strikeout or a walk. The 29-year-old lefty plunked J.T. Realmuto with a pitch to lead off the inning, but an Alec Bohm double play erased the threat, and the Mets broke open a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fifth en route to a 13-3 rout. It was Castillo's first big-league win since 2018 with San Diego, and over 13.1 innings in the New York bullpen this season he's posted a 2.03 ERA and 17:6 K:BB, albeit with an alarming 1.73 WHIP.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Back with big club

The Mets selected Castillo's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday. Castillo was outrighted off the 40-man roster earlier this month, but he's getting another shot in the majors after allowing just one run with a 9:1 K:BB over his last 5.1 innings with Syracuse. The lefty reliever holds a 5.30 ERA and 20:9 K:BB across 18.2 frames at the big-league level this season between the Diamondbacks and Mets.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Outrighted to minors

Castillo was outrighted to Triple-A Syracuse on Friday. The Mets designated Castillo for assignment last weekend, and no other team was willing to put him on their 40-man roster via a waiver claim. Castillo has made a total of 19 appearances in the majors this season between Arizona and New York, posting a 5.30 ERA and 1.93 WHIP over 18.2 innings.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Pushed off 40-man roster

The Mets designated Castillo for assignment Sunday. Castillo will lose his spot on the 40-man roster with the Mets needing to clear a spot for left-hander Gregory Soto, who has reported to the team after being acquired from the Orioles on Friday. Over his 19 appearances at the big-league level this season between the Diamondbacks and Mets, Castillo has produced a 5.30 ERA and 1.93 WHIP while striking out 20 batters over 18.2 innings.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Contract selected by New York

The Mets selected Castillo's contract from Triple-A Syracuse on Friday, Laura Albanese of Newsday reports. Castillo was DFA'd by the Mets last month but rejoins the 40-man roster and MLB roster. He pitched in 13 games out of the bullpen for New York earlier in the season, registering a 2.38 ERA, 1.94 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB across 11.1 innings of work.

  • Mets' Jose Castillo: Emerging in high-leverage role

Castillo gave up two hits and struck out two in two scoreless innings of relief Wednesday, recording his third hold of the season in a win over the Dodgers. The 29-year-old was picked up off the scrap heap in May after being designated for assignment by the Diamondbacks, but he's been sharp for the Mets. Castillo has yet to allow an earned run with his new club while posting an 8:3 K:BB in six innings. He's the most reliable lefty in the bullpen right now, and as a result Castillo has collected a hold in three straight appearances as he earns the trust of manager Carlos Mendoza.

  • Diamondbacks' Jose Castillo: Makes 2025 debut

Castillo (adductor) was activated from the 7-day injured list and recorded two strikeouts across a scoreless inning Saturday for Triple-A Reno. Castillo began the season on the injured list due to left adductor tightness, but he's since been given the green light to return to the mound. He entered spring camp as a non-roster invitee before going down with the injury, so he could be an option for a mid-season promotion if he pitches well at Triple-A.

  • Diamondbacks' Jose Castillo: Exits with injury

Castillo was removed from Saturday's Cactus League game against the Rockies due to left adductor tightness, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports. Castillo went down after trying to catch a wild throw from Jordan Lawlar on a play at first base. The severity of Castillo's injury isn't immediately clear, but the Diamondbacks will likely give him at least a few days to recover before deploying him in another exhibition game.

  • Diamondbacks' Jose Castillo: Rejoins Arizona

Castillo signed a minor-league deal with the Diamondbacks on Wednesday, Aaron Hughes of Sports Illustrated reports. Castillo spent the 2024 season in the Diamondbacks organization and was sidelined by a hand injury to begin the campaign. He still threw 20.2 innings with Triple-A Reno, maintaining a 4.35 ERA and 1.24 WHIP.

  • Diamondbacks' Jose Castillo: Debuts for Triple-A club

Castillo (hand) has given up three earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out two batters over 2.2 innings in three appearances since being reinstated from Triple-A Reno's 7-day injured list July 19. Castillo opened the season on Reno's IL after suffering a hand injury in spring training. He began a rehab assignment in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League in late May, but he was pulled off the assignment after just one appearance. It's unclear if Castillo experienced a setback with the hand injury or was contending with a new injury, but he was cleared to resume the rehab assignment six weeks later before he finally got the green light to join the Triple-A club. Castillo has previously made 40 relief appearances at the big-league level from 2018 through 2023, but he looks to be a long ways away from getting a look in the Arizona bullpen.

  • Marlins' Jose Castillo: Outrighted to Triple-A

Castillo was outrighted Thursday to Triple-A Jacksonville, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Castillo passed through waivers unclaimed after getting pushed off the Marlins' 40-man roster. Miami acquired Castillo from the Padres on Tuesday for cash considerations and optioned him to Triple-A Jacksonville. Castillo was designated for assignment by San Diego last week, having been lit up for four earned runs while recording only one out in his lone major-league appearance of the season back on July 4. The 27-year-old left-hander hasn't had success at the MLB level since 2018.

  • Padres' Jose Castillo: Sent back to Triple-A

Castillo was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Friday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Castillo made his season debut with the Padres this past Tuesday against the Angels and was charged with four earned runs while recording only one out. He missed the first three months of the year with a shoulder injury and doesn't seem to be fully back into form.

  • Padres' Jose Castillo: Recalled from Triple-A

San Diego recalled Castillo from Triple-A El Paso on Tuesday. Castillo missed the first several weeks of the 2023 season due to a shoulder injury and had struggled to an 8.44 ERA in 16 innings at the Triple-A level, but the Padres need fresh options in their bullpen for this final stretch of games before the All-Star break.

  • Padres' Jose Castillo: Cleared for rehab assignment

Castillo (shoulder) is set to begin a rehab assignment Tuesday with Triple-A El Paso, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. If all goes well from here, he could be an option for the Padres' bullpen sometime next week.

  • Padres' Jose Castillo: Throws bullpen session

Castillo (shoulder) threw a bullpen session Saturday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Castillo was shut down in mid-March due to left shoulder discomfort, but the shutdown didn't last too long. He won't be ramped up by Opening Day, but he may not miss too much time.
