  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Back up with big club

The Rangers recalled Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports. He'll join the 26-man active roster as a replacement for Jake Burger (wrist), who was placed on the injured list. Osuna has slashed only .158/.290/.211 in 34 contests for the Rangers this season. With Adolis Garcia (ankle) and Sam Haggerty (ankle) on the shelf, Osuna could see some action in the outfield on days that super-utility player Josh Smith is used in the infield.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Sent back to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock on Friday. Osuna will yield his spot on the active roster to Jake Burger (quad), who's been activated from the 10-day injured list. Osuna will head back to Round Rock after going 1-for-9 during his latest stint in the big leagues.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Hitting bench Monday

Osuna is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Yankees. Osuna was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock on Saturday and started in left field in the Rangers' final two games of their series with the Mariners, going 1-for-5 with a walk. With Wyatt Langford shifting over to center field following Evan Carter's (back) placement on the injured list Saturday, the left-handed-hitting Osuna could occupy the strong side of a platoon in left field. Osuna will give way to the switch-hitting Sam Haggerty on Monday while southpaw Max Fried takes the hill for the Yankees.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Heads back to Triple-A

The Rangers optioned Osuna to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday. Osuna had started in just three of the Rangers' last 12 games, and since he's still a prospect of some repute, the organization likely sent him back to Round Rock so that he can play on an everyday basis. After receiving his first big-league call-up May 25, the 23-year-old outfielder slashed .164/.293/.224 with one home run and three stolen bases across 82 plate appearances for Texas.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Homers in win

Osuna started in left field and went 1-for-4 with a two-run home run in Tuesday's 10-2 win over the Orioles. Osuna cracked his first major-league home run in the fifth inning to extend a Texas lead to 5-2. He's received an uptick in playing time, getting starts in left field against right-handers with Wyatt Langford (oblique) on the 10-day injured list. Langford's return is expected when the minimum stay expires Saturday or soon thereafter. Osuna, who has started six of the last seven games, is 4-for-20 with two extra-base hits, three RBI, two steals and one run scored during that stretch.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Starts in left field

Osuna started in left field and went 1-for-2 with a double in Friday's 7-6 loss to Seattle. Osuna filled in for the injured Wyatt Langford, who was placed on the 10-day injured list with an oblique injury that Kennedi Landry of MLB.com described as mild. Osuna was eventually replaced by Ezequiel Duran when a lefty reliever entered the game. Friday marked the third consecutive start for Osuna, who has a .171/.300/.195 line over 19 games since his contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock at the end of May. Osuna, Duran or Sam Haggerty could see a spike in playing time while Langford is unavailable.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Playing time trending down

Osuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Twins. With Adolis Garcia in the midst of a six-game hitting streak and having taken back control of a regular role in right field, Osuna's brief run as an everyday player seems to have come to an end. The 22-year-old rookie will hit the bench Wednesday for the third time in four games and could soon be headed back to Triple-A Round Rock if playing time at the big-league level remains sparse.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Hitting bench Wednesday

Osuna is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Rays. He will head to the bench for just the second time in nine games since being called up from Triple-A Round Rock on May 25. The 22-year-old has gotten on base at a .435 clip, but his fantasy appeal has been muted thus far after getting thrown out on both of his steal attempts. The slumping Adolis Garcia is back in the lineup Wednesday after taking a seat in each of the last four games to receive a mental reset, but if the veteran is unable to turn a corner at the plate, the Rangers could reopen a regular role in the outfield for Osuna.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Set for promotion to bigs

The Rangers are expected to promote Osuna from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Sunday's game against the White Sox, Jeff Passan and Kiley McDaniel of ESPN.com report. With Joc Pederson suffering a broken right hand in Saturday's loss to Chicago, the Rangers have an opening on the MLB roster. The 22-year-old Osuna started the season at Double-A Frisco but was promoted to Triple-A Round Rock earlier in May. He's hit well at both levels, producing a .279/.386/.416 slash line with two home runs and nine stolen bases across 184 plate appearances. Osuna is considered one of Texas' top prospects and could get a look in a regular role at designated hitter or in the outfield.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Elevated to Triple-A

The Rangers promoted Osuna from Double-A Frisco to Triple-A Round Rock on Monday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. The 22-year-old Osuna has increased his cachet as a prospect over the last few months. After turning heads in big-league spring training with a 1.237 OPS to go with two stolen bases during Cactus League play, the outfielder has continued to shine early on during the minor-league season. He was bumped up to a Triple-A after getting on base at a .356 clip while going 7-for-9 in steal attempts over 146 plate appearances with Frisco.

  • Rangers' Alejandro Osuna: Up to 30 steals in Single-A

Osuna has a .321/.407/.476 batting line with eight home runs, 30 steals and 34:47 BB:K through 71 games for Single-A Down East. The 19-year-old has run wild on the bases, for better or worse -- he's been caught 14 times, so he'll have to improve that rate to continue getting green lights at higher levels. His power output has also fallen off dramatically from early in the year, as he's homered just once in his last 32 games -- yet he's managed to hit .314 with a .380 OBP and 16 steals in that span. Osuna's still not getting much attention despite his strong early returns, but with his solid sense of the strike zone and good speed, he remains a prospect to watch.
