Hagenman notched his first career save after handling mop-up duty Tuesday, and he was certainly impressive in doing so. The right-hander has a serviceable 3.26 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 20:2 K:BB across his first 19.1 innings, but he's highly unlikely to be in the running for save opportunities for the Mets in more competitive games.

Mets' Justin Hagenman: Takes loss in relief appearance
Rotowire
Hagenman (0-1) was the pitcher of record in the Mets' 7-3 loss to the Orioles in the second game of Thursday's doubleheader, giving up three runs (two earned) on four hits and one walk while striking out three over two-plus relief innings.
After making his first major-league start in his previous appearance Friday, Hagenman shifted to a relief role in a bullpen game. He entered a 3-3 tie in the bottom of the fourth inning and was still on the mound when the Orioles broke things open in the fifth. Considering Hagenman tossed 41 pitches Thursday, he's unlikely to be available for at least the next couple of days, so the Mets could option him to Triple-A Syracuse to clear a spot for Kodai Senga (hamstring), who will be reinstated from the injured list ahead of his start Friday in Kansas City.

Hagenman served up three home runs, two of which came in the opening frame. Through 10.1 frames, Hagenman owns a 4.35 ERA, 0.97 WHIP and 10:0 K:BB. His next turn in New York's rotation lines up to be against the Orioles at Camden Yards, although it's possible Kodai Senga (hamstring) will be able to return for that spot.

Hagenman pitched well in a bulk-relief appearance earlier this season with the Mets, striking out four over 3.1 frames of one-run ball. He's made six starts and four relief appearances this season with Syracuse, collecting a bloated 6.21 ERA but an impressive 39:8 K:BB over 33.1 innings.
