  • Rockies' Troy Johnston: Goes to Rockies via waivers

The Rockies claimed Johnston off waivers from the Marlins on Wednesday. Johnston reached the majors for the first time in 2025 as a 28-year-old and fared well, slashing .277/.331/.420 with four home runs over 121 plate appearances. He can play first base and the corner outfield spots and should have a decent path to playing time on a talent-deficient Rockies roster.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Lifts fourth homer

Johnston went 2-for-4 with a home run and an additional RBI in Saturday's 4-3 win over Texas. Johnston blasted his fourth homer of the season, also logging multiple hits for the fourth time this month. The rookie outfielder has made a nice impression since being called up in late July, as he's settled in as Miami's primary right fielder. Through his first 99 at-bats, Johnston is batting .283 with four long balls, 13 RBI, 10 runs scored and two stolen bases.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Three hits in Friday's loss

Johnston went 3-for-5 with a triple, two runs scored and an RBI in Friday's loss to the Mets. Starting in left field and batting seventh, Johnston delivered his fourth multi-hit performance in the last nine games, a stretch in which he's batting .480 (12-for-25) with three runs and four RBI. The 28-year-old has emerged as the Marlins' preferred option in left field against right-handed pitching while still occasionally spotting in at first base or right field, a role he could fill until Kyle Stowers (oblique) gets healthy.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Exiting starting nine Wednesday

Johnston is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against Atlanta. With a lefty (Joey Wentz) on the hill for Atlanta, the left-handed-hitting Johnston will head to the bench for the series finale. Johnston had started in each of Miami's last seven games at first base or in left or right field, going 8-for-20 with one double, two walks and three RBI during that stretch.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Resting against lefty

Johnston is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Red Sox. Johnston was in the lineup for three of the past four games against right-handed pitchers, but he'll take a seat Sunday while southpaw Garrett Crochet takes the bump for Boston. Johnston is slashing .214/.241/.357 with one home run and one stolen base over 29 plate appearances since getting called up from Triple-A Jacksonville on July 29.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: On bench for nightcap

Johnston isn't in the lineup for the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta. Johnston will get a chance to catch his breath after going 1-for-3 with a strikeout during a loss in Game 1. While he rests, Eric Wagaman will get the nod at first base, and Jakob Marsee, Derek Hill and Heriberto Hernandez will work in the outfield.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Idle Saturday

Johnston is not in the Marlins' starting lineup against the Yankees on Saturday. Johnston will be on the bench for the start of Saturday's game while Eric Wagaman starts at first base and bats seventh. Johnston has gone 1-for-5 with a run in two games since being recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Added to roster

The Marlins selected Johnston's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Tuesday. Johnston earned his first-ever major-league promotion after putting together a .252/.333/.439 batting line with 12 homers and 31 steals at Jacksonville. The 28-year-old will provide depth at first base and the corner outfield spots.

  • Marlins' Troy Johnston: Expected to be added to roster

The Marlins are expected to call up Johnston from Triple-A Jacksonville prior to Tuesday's game in St. Louis, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Johnston would take the 26-man and 40-man roster spots vacated by Nick Fortes, who has been traded to the Rays. The 28-year-old Johnston has slashed .252/.333/.439 with 12 homers and 31 steals at Jacksonville this season and is capable of playing first base in addition to both corner-outfield spots. Johnston will be making his major-league debut when/if he gets into a game.
