  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Logs quality start in loss

Strider (7-14) took the loss against the Pirates on Saturday, allowing three runs on eight hits and two walks with five strikeouts over six innings. Strider generated 15 whiffs on 85 pitches and entered the sixth inning locked in a pitcher's duel before allowing two runs in the frame. While 2025 was a disappointing campaign overall, the 26-year-old closed on a steadier note, allowing three earned runs or fewer in each of his final six starts. He'll finish the season with a 4.45 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 131:51 K:BB across 125.1 innings.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Sharp in seventh win

Strider (7-13) earned the win Sunday over the Tigers, allowing six hits and three walks over five scoreless innings. He struck out six. Strider has won back-to-back starts while posting a 2.10 ERA over his last five outings (30 innings). The right-hander lowered his ERA to 4.45 with a 1.38 WHIP and 126:49 K:BB through 22 starts (119.1 innings) this season. Strider is tentatively lined up to face the Pirates at home his next time out.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Breezes to sixth win

Strider (6-13) earned the win Monday at Washington, yielding one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings. He struck out six. The Atlanta right-hander looked sharp in this 96-pitch outing, generating a solid 15 whiffs. Strider notched his first win since July 27 and pocketed his second consecutive quality start. The only blemish on his line was a solo homer conceded to Daylen Lile in the second. In 114.1 total innings, Strider has pitched to a 4.64 ERA, 1.36 WHIP and 120:46 K:BB. He will look to continue his recent success in his next matchup, which currently lines up to come at Detroit this weekend.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Fans eight in quality start

Strider (5-13) took the loss Tuesday, allowing two runs on six hits and three walks over six innings as Atlanta fell 6-1 to the Cubs. He struck out eight. While he got outdueled by Chicago rookie Cade Horton, Strider looked a little more like his usual dominant self in this one. The Atlanta right-hander's eight Ks were his highest total since July 18, and he racked up 32 called or swinging strikes among his 97 pitches (60 total strikes). Strider's quality start was his ninth in 20 outings this season, and over his last three trips to the mound he sports a 3.00 ERA and 1.22 WHIP, albeit with a lackluster 12:8 K:BB in 18 innings. He'll look to build on this performance in his next start, which lines up to come on the road early next week against the Nationals.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Start pushed back

Strider isn't starting Sunday's game against the Mariners and will instead take the mound Tuesday against the Cubs, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. Atlanta indicated that the decision isn't injury-related, so the organization is seemingly just looking to get Strider some extra rest during the final stretch of the season. It's been an underwhelming campaign for the right-hander, who missed a month early in the season due to a hamstring injury and has a 4.97 ERA, 1.39 WHIP and 106:41 K:BB across 101.1 innings. Joey Wentz is moving up in the rotation to start Sunday's series finale versus Seattle.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Pushed back in pitching schedule

Strider is no longer scheduled to make a start during Atlanta's series with the Mets this weekend, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports. After claiming Cal Quantrill off waivers from Miami, Atlanta has reconfigured its rotation and will have Joey Wentz, Quantrill and Bryce Elder make starts against the Mets from Friday through Sunday. Strider most recently pitched Monday against the White Sox, taking his 11th loss of the season while allowing seven earned runs over three innings. The right-hander has fallen short of the standards of a quality start in each of his last five outings, turning in a 10.38 ERA and 2.31 WHIP over 21.2 innings during that stretch. Strider tentatively lines up to make his next start during Atlanta's series in Miami early next week.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Not starting Saturday

Strider has been scratched from his start in Saturday's matchup with the Cincinnati at the MLB Speedway Classic in Bristol, Tenn. due to the game being delayed over an hour by inclement weather, Gabe Burns of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Strider had already completed most or all of his warmup before the delay was announced, per Mark Bowman of MLB.com, so Atlanta is opting to go to a bullpen game rather than risking an injury to the star hurler. Atlanta is off Sunday, so Strider's next start likely won't come until at least Monday against Milwaukee. It's not yet clear which reliever will start Saturday for Atlanta if the game takes place.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Registers fifth win

Strider (5-8) picked up the win Monday at Kansas City, conceding two runs on seven hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out three. The Atlanta right-hander did not have his sharpest stuff, as evidenced by his paltry five whiffs out of 96 total pitches. Strider gave up both runs during a three-hit first frame, as he worked around seven total hits allowed, which matched his season worst set July 4 against Baltimore. Across 77.2 total innings, the 26-year-old has pitched to a 3.71 ERA, 1.22 WHIP and 92:32 K:BB while yielding 10 long balls. Strider currently lines up to make his next start during the MLB Speedway Classic at Bristol Motor Speedway against Cincinnati this weekend.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Sparkles through six

Strider (4-7) picked up the win after throwing six shutout innings Friday, allowing three hits and three walks while striking out eight during a 7-3 win over the Yankees. As far as starts to the second half go, it'd be hard to imagine a better one for Strider. He put up all zeros in a start for the second time this season, with the other start coming June 14 against the Rockies. That start against Colorado marked the beginning of a seven-start streak of allowing three runs or fewer that is still ongoing. Over that time, the 26-year-old is 4-2 with a 2.55 ERA and 58 strikeouts across 42.2 frames.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Strikes out 11 versus A's

Strider allowed three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out 11 over 6.2 innings in a no-decision versus the Athletics on Thursday. Strider got off to a shaky start, allowing a three-run home run to Tyler Soderstrom in the first inning. That would be all the damage on Strider's ledger for the game, and he was able to dial up double-digit strikeouts for the second time this season. He's allowed three homers and six total runs over 12.2 innings in July after going five starts without giving up a long ball. The Atlanta ace is at a 3.94 ERA, 1.17 WHIP and 74:24 K:BB over 61.2 innings through 11 starts this season, and he's gone at least five innings in eight straight outings. Strider will get some time to rest over the All-Star break before likely taking the mound at home versus the Yankees next week.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Up and down in third win

Strider (3-5) earned the win Tuesday against the Mets, giving up three runs on two hits and four walks in five innings. He struck out eight. Strider struggled with his control on a sweltering night in New York, walking a season-high four, but he was still able to strike out at least eight in his third straight start. The hard-throwing right-hander produced a strong 15 whiffs, and he kept a dangerous Mets lineup in check with just two singles allowed. Strider is still searching for a groove in 2025 while coming off Tommy John surgery, and he'll aim to improve on his 4.07 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 53:17 K:BB over his first 42 frames at home versus the Phillies his next time out.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Notches first win of season

Strider (1-5) earned the win Saturday, allowing three hits and one walk over six scoreless innings against the Rockies. He struck out 13. Strider returned to form Saturday, racking up a season-high 13 strikeouts in a dominant outing. The right-hander's 2025 campaign has been challenging to say the least, as a hamstring injury derailed his return from elbow surgery. On the season, the 26-year-old owns a 4.35 ERA and 1.16 WHIP over 31 innings in six starts.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Loses again

Strider (0-5) took the loss Sunday against San Francisco, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and three walks across six innings. He struck out five. Strider has taken a loss in all five of his appearances this season, but Sunday's outing marked his first time completing six innings this year. The 26-year-old hasn't been consistently healthy since 2023, but he's now made four straight turns through Atlanta's rotation. He's still finding his footing though, owning a 5.85 ERA and a 19:10 K:BB over 20 innings. Fresh off a quality start, Strider is on track for a matchup with the lowly Rockies next weekend.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Hit hard in Tuesday's loss

Strider (0-4) took the loss Tuesday against the Diamondbacks, coughing up five runs on six hits -- including three home runs -- and two walks over five innings. He struck out four. The right-hander struggled through 85 pitches (52 strikes), serving up homers to Ketel Marte in the first and third innings and Corbin Carroll in the fifth. Strider has been a shell of himself since returning from a hamstring injury, posting a 6.43 ERA, 1.43 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over three starts and 14 innings, and his velocity remains down -- he's averaging 95.2 mph on his four-seamer this season, over two ticks below the 97.3 mph he was averaging in 2023. Strider will try to find his form in his next outing, which is scheduled to come on the road this weekend in San Francisco.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Likely to start Tuesday

Strider (hamstring) appears set to return to Atlanta's rotation Tuesday versus Washington, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports. Manager Brian Snitker said late last week that Strider would be activated from the injured list to start one of the team's three games in Washington, and given that Atlanta has listed AJ Smith-Shawver and Chris Sale as its probable pitchers for Wednesday and Thursday, the writing is on the wall for Strider to return for the first game of the series. The ace right-hander will forego a minor-league rehab assignment, though he did toss 65 pitches in a sim game last Wednesday. He could be on some sort of a pitch count in his return, but he'll draw a favorable assignment against a Nationals lineup that ranks 20th in MLB in team OPS (.688).

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Returning against Nationals

Manager Brian Snitker said Thursday that Strider (hamstring) will be activated off the injured list to start one of Atlanta's games in Washington next week, 680 The Fan Atlanta reports. It's still unclear exactly which game Strider will pitch in Atlanta's upcoming three-game series against the Nationals, but Snitker's comments confirm that the 26-year-old righty will return to the rotation without making a rehab start in the minors. Strider only built up to 65 pitches and experienced decreased velocity during his sim game Wednesday, so there's a chance he'll be working under some workload restrictions when he makes his return from a strained right hamstring.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Next step undecided

Strider (hamstring) said that he feels ready to return from the 15-day injured list, but Atlanta has yet to decide whether he'll be activated during the upcoming week or go on a minor-league rehab assignment, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Strider has been on the shelf since April 21 due to a Grade 1 right hamstring strain, which he sustained while playing catch. He received a platelet-poor plasma injection two days later that he credits with hastening his recovery. The right-hander has responded well to bullpen sessions Wednesday and Saturday, but Atlanta may want to have him face hitters in a simulated game or in a minor-league rehab start before bringing him back from the IL. If Strider is cleared to return during the upcoming week, his workload could be managed carefully in what would be his first outing since April 16. Per Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com, Atlanta has already confirmed its starting pitchers through Thursday, so there wouldn't be an opening for Strider in the rotation until at least Friday.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Another bullpen session Saturday

Strider (hamstring) will throw another bullpen session Saturday before Atlanta decides whether he will need a rehab start before rejoining the big-league rotation, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Strider was given a PRP injection after suffering a right hamstring strain April 21 and threw his first bullpen since the injury Wednesday, which went well. The right-hander indicated that he feels ready to rejoin Atlanta's rotation, but the ultimate decision lies with the club. Strider could return next week if Atlanta decides a rehab start isn't necessary, but if that happens he would likely have a limited workload.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: Stuck with loss in season debut

Strider (0-1) took the loss Wednesday, giving up two runs on five hits and a walk over five-plus innings as Atlanta was downed 3-1 by the Blue Jays. He struck out five. Making his first big-league start since April 5 of last season after completing his recovery from an internal brace procedure on his elbow, Strider looked strong early and topped out at 97.9 mph with his fastball on a strikeout of Vladimir Guerrero in the first inning. The Toronto slugger got his revenge though, taking Strider deep on a slider in the top of the sixth to help chase the right-hander from the game. Strider handled a full workload, tossing 58 of 97 pitches for strikes, and his final strikeout of the day was the 500th of his career. He lines up to make his next start at home early next week against the Cardinals.

  • Braves' Spencer Strider: On track to start Wednesday

Atlanta is planning to activate Strider (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to make his season debut Wednesday in Toronto, Justin Toscano of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports. Shortly after Strider completed his third and final rehab start with Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday, Atlanta manager Brian Snitker said that the right-hander was on track to return from the IL during the upcoming week. While Atlanta has yet to officially confirm that Strider will debut Wednesday, the 26-year-old felt good during his bullpen session Sunday and will take the hill for the series finale in Toronto, barring any unforeseen setbacks with his arm. Strider is just over a year removed from undergoing internal brace surgery on his right elbow, but he exhibited no signs of rust during his two Grapefruit League starts and three rehab outings. He got stretched out to 5.1 innings and 90 pitches in his final start with Gwinnett, striking out 13 of the 21 batters he faced while inducing 21 swings-and-misses. Atlanta likely won't push Strider past the 100-pitch mark Wednesday, but given how strong he's looked during his time on the farm, fantasy managers who have been stashing him will likely want to activate him right away this week.
